Everyon join me in barraging FOX Austin with hatred. They cut away with 8 seconds left so I have yet to see the end of the game....thank GOD I clicked on iTunes on my pc and streamed 610 real quick to hear the end.

Not when the primary game starts... so same thing happened in all the other late game markets as well (SF, AZ, STL, DAL, GB, NYG)
 
Alright, now that I have calmed down some I can type and think better lol.

I have my daughter here so I had to keep my mouth shut and not get pissy so this message board was my relief.

Anyway, my beef was as V Man mentioned....it was not 3:15 yet. IMO FOX austin decided to show commercials before the game.

They had no justifiable reason switching from the end of the Texans game to pregame warmups for the Cowboys.

I think the NFL considers all of Texas outside of Houston the "home market" of the Cowboys to the point where all affiliates generally have to switch to the Cowboys coverage at 4:15 (the problem was that all these Fox affiliates did so a few minutes before that -- and all at the same time, so it was a network decision, not the local affiliate).

Why is Austin not part of the Houston market? ...or San Antonio? San Antonio is way closer to Houston than Dallas.
 
I really enjoyed the Fox broadcast, a lot better than CBS. The commentators I thought were very knowledge and fair. Also I though the Fox broadcast was a lot more clear and crisp than the CBS. Just my opinion

In the 7 years I have been in this little piss ant town named Austin (it's barley even a city with only 2 major arteries that are decades behind current standards) I have seen just Texans bumper stickers alone go from seemingly just mine to almost as many as I see Cowtrick stickers. Face it, it's over, Cowboys don't dominate the whole state like they used to. Yet, another season that will probably end in disaster awaits you and you know it so you start stuff you can't finish with Texans fans. For what? Just to take your mind off of the fact you have one of the worst owners in the league as far as actual football decision making? Or one of the worst QB's (it's debatable) in the clutch. Fact - Rookie 5th round pick out of UNC T.J. Yates looked better today for the Texans than I have seen Rhomo in a while. /end
 
Some thing in Bryan. There was 16 seconds to go and the Fox station switched to at least 2 minuets of commercials.

FWIW.....I just friended and messaged John Lopez at 610 on Facebook and sent him a message about this and asked if he could bring it up tomorrow at some point after 7am (when I get to work and start streaming :D ).

I asked if there could be any possible repercussions from the NFL as they pulled early and what, if anything McNair would think about this as far as "building the brand" outside of Houston.

So, if I hear anything, I'll post.
 
The San Antonio station is claiming the NFL forced them to do it on their page, too. They also referred to the link I provided in another thread about the definition of "secondary market" and claimed that they were *required* by the NFL to pull away at 3:10.

But as the rest of that goes, since neither San Antonio nor Austin are secondary markets for the Cowboys -- they do not have any locations in their viewing areas within 75 miles of the stadium -- the only way they were "forced" to pull away at 3:10 would be because they had already made the decision to piss on Texans fans if the game ran long, regardless of how competitive, by opting to switch to the Cowboys feed at that time.

Both of them are blaming the NFL rules and acting like they had no choice in the matter. But the NFL only forced them because they already made the decision to cut over when they weren't forced to do that.
 
I was floored too, but luckily I have the NFL Sunday Ticket and I was able to switch to the channel there and see it.

I posted on their site the email that Wolf got from an affiliate that essentially exposes their BS about "it was on the NFL" so we'll see what they say. Feel free to keep barraging them even if you don't live here.....

For those that think me and other Austinites are obsessing on this, keep in mind for a solid year or 2 we barely got to see games ON CBS thanks to VY being with the Titans so Tenessee was essentially the home games so Horn jock swingers could keep reliving the glory days and Houston fans in Austin were forced to go to sports bars every weekend as if we lived in a whole different part of the country. So this is a sensitive issue where we feel we get screwed as Texans fans a lot here in Austin.

Keep in mind we are IN Austin, closer to Houston than Dallas and especially Tenessee, so this is complete bull ****.

Honestly, let's say the tables were turned. What if the Cowboys game was the early game and they cut away right before Jason Garrett iced his own kicker to show the pregame show of the Texans game.

As a Texans and football fan I would be pissed also. I could deal missing the kick off of my favorite team to watch the last seconds of a game that I just spent 3 hours watching.
 
What's next? You're favorite player on your favorite team puts up a 3 to win it at the buzzer to get into the big dance and the network cut's away for a pre-game commercial. And their defense is, oh well. WTH?
 
But it still seems like BS.....

We debunked the whole "market" argument and it was NOT 3:15....it was 3:10 (actually could have sworn it was 3:09 but I digress).

So WTF did they do this?

Answer: They either didn't think there were enough Texans fans to say anything or make enough ruckus and/or they just straight don't give a F and did it maliciously.
 
Fox is defending its actions saying that the 'girls bring higher ratings than the Texans (for now). It still doesn't explain how a multi-billion dollar company with millions invested in technology to the point where they can take a POV of a play and spin it around on an axis to show a different view where there isn't a camera and yet they can't seem to get their act together to show hold off switching feeds till a game is decided.

I decided to continue to harass, though. As one poster said, as bad as the discretion was, folk get really upset when being lied to about it.

Cool man, got you on there. And I agree, there has been some Cowboy fan support (but even more of them using it to poke at Texans fans which is the normal Cowboys MO so not out of the unusual).

I realized last night though that the argument about ratings is false IMO. YOu get ratings AFTER a program is shown. Here in Austin (and I assume San Antonio as well) FOX had the double header.......so ANY football was on FOX after 3:15pm....people did not have a choice to watch something else so they therefore had a captive audience = higher ratings.

IMO, the Texans game also had PITT - CIN on CBS to compete with thereby "Ross Perot-ing" ratings away from the Texans game. Cowboys on FOX had NO competition so ANY football fans of ANY team were watching it.

I would love to see this brought up to that schmuck FOX Sports CEO guy in the PFT.com article.

Edit Seems like FOX is now just deleting posts by anyone no matter what they say about the Texans game Sunday. I saw a few on there this morning and they are all gone now no matter what they said (whether they were attacking the station or not... and my last post there which I posted here too is gone as well....ah good old Soviet Union tactics.....shut everyone up...SILENCE!).

Yeah, was pretty much the same song and dance. He explained that I guess commercials go along with the kickoff so that is why the borke before 3:15 which if true explains that (still BS IMO but at least that was addressed).

What was not touched though was how FOX could designate that as a "mandatory" kick off when the location of Austin to Dallas does not fit that rule. I.E....sounds like FOX just did WTF it wanted without a care in the world.

I am still not able to believe what happened.
 
The stations designated THEMSELVES as mandatory kickoff markets.
They basically said "Treat our feed the same as the DFW feeds".

As the Cowboys continue to slide and Houston continues to rise, you'll see a switch.
If the Texans make a big playoff run and they become more nationally known and relevant, you'll see more casual fans outside Dallas start to switch.
