the wave

Instead of "offense at work", they should just throw this up:
crazyeyes8.png
and add something like "Crazy Eyes Schaub does not approve." :heh:

I approve of this. Also add some lasers coming out of his eyes shooting down bad fans LOL

Do the Mexican Wave! YEAH! *does it by himself* I can do as much as I want because the Texans aren't on offense right now.

Um, the problem is, it got LOUD when we were on offense. You're supposed to be quiet when we're on offense. Get it? Regardless of whether someone pays for the ticket, that's Football 101.

The wave is better suited for baseball, IMO.

Give me $320 a game and I'll agree with you 100%. Until then I'm gonna do what ever I want. That's life 101... Get over it.

They were going to run the ball. Whether it was 1st & 10, 1st & 15, 1st & 25, they were going to run the ball.

That's why no one gave a **** about watching the game. I'm like you (well, I didn't spend $320 to watch the game :embarassed:) but if I think doing the wave is a better use of my $150, then I'm doing the wave.

Hell, I had half a mind to go smoke a cigarette while the offense was on the field, but the wave kept me in my seat... sort of.

TBO sometimes our offensive prob needs so noise i think when it qets to quite the acctually start to suck and get to nervous ya know the

RUN RUN PASS PUNT

yeah that happend like 15 times today LOL

Maybe a little noise for our offensive in the future is needed LOL

We were there, took part in the wave ( my first one ever... yeah its pathetic at 30) but didn't make a ruckus out of it... Also stood up the whole game anyway. Was more than annoyed and bothered by our innept passing game, but hey- we JUST got home. Most of ya'll have been home since 5:00. The drive SUX but we do what we must to support our team, and dammit, if a wave comes around and we're almost sure of a win, then fine. But yes it was very ill timed. Should've waited until the 2:00 warning or less... eh, oh well. It's a W on our schedule last I checked.

Lombardi got it half right. Our fanbase is soft. But it will get better as we win big. I think there are die hard fans here, and know to be quiet on offense, but the majority of houston probably aren't familar with football fan rule 101: be quiet when you team has the ball.

I don't have a problem with anyone doing the wave when our team has the ball. Just be quiet when you do it if our team has the ball. If you can't, don't do it then. Pretty simple.

Most people don't know what it is like to grow up watching a team and learn the inherit rules. Those years we didn't have football set back the city's football IQ. We finally have a generation of fans that have grown up watching the texans, and it has been painful, but none the less that produces die hard fans that will know what to do at the stadium to give us real home field advantage.

But if this is the thread that has the most comments we must have won the game because there are no fire kubiak, hire cowher, get rid of schaub threads...

Put me down as one of the people who hate the wave...... I've never liked it to be honest with you. People have a right to entertain themselves however they want to when I attend a game with them, but it doesn't mean I have to participate or like it. And it also doesn't mean I'm lesser of a fan if I don't want to participate. It's outdated and wack in my opinion. And this is only my opinion.

Bottom line is the Offensive was playing crap for 3 qts it was bound to happen the fan knew being quite or loud the Offensive was going to suck anywayz

Who cares.... If someone pays for the ticket....they can do what ever they want. Last time I looked, it wasn't illegal. I didn't see anything wrong with it, it was actually fun to watch and brought back some good memories.

Hello....your team is on offense.....they want it quiet to call plays...and you want to make noise and disrupt them.....quiet...that is what they need when they are calling plays...not a bunch of people standing up screaming.....
I bet the jags fans were laughing at us.....I bet anyone watching on tv who was not a Texan fans was laughing at us......
I never liked the wave in the first place....I think it is dumb if you ask me.....

Hurt our team that is what it did....the offense needs it quiet.....you playing it difficult for your own qb to call a play and your offensive line to hear it.....cmon people......wake up.....that was just plain dumb.....

and so 80s......:toropalm::hairpull::loser

I think the wave is stupid, but I do agree that fans (who pay a ransom to attend games) should get to cheer however they want.

However, if the wave is more interesting to you than the football game (which our team was winning, btw) then maybe you would be better off just watching from home and saving your money. You can do the wave at home for free.

The wave was no louder than whenever our offense lines up to go for it on 4th down. We're complaining about a wave that really wasn't even that loud and when we're up 21-7 in the 4th? Okay...

i think this thread is another indicator of how the texans as a fanbase kinda sucks. fair play to aj for saying it in his piece because its a bit taboo.

yeah you pay your money so you can do what you want but theres plenty of ppl around the country doing the same and not doing dumb **** just because the offence is 'boring' (21 pts thru 3 q's against a very good D)

the team is winning and yet the crowd is still coming in late, leaving early etc so there goes that 'we're sick of losing' excuse thats been clung to by so many

I don't know which is lamer - the wave or the one guy in the section that turns around to the crowd waving his arms as if to suggest get out of your seat and get loud.

This one is easy........ the wave!!!!! If it was possible for me to take it out to the back and shoot it I would.

Good. Hopefully next time, the Texans call some good plays. 1st down, run..... 2nd down, run.... 3rd down... pass....

I got bored.

I was actually happy that we didn't resort to booing our team while we were winning.

You want the Texans to put their foot on the opponent's throat? Hopefully that's the message the Texans got from the fans having nothing better to do than the wave when our team has the ball.

What about the guy who gets out of his seat and waves his arms down to quiet down the section? Or the guy who gets up and yells first down?

i hope you realise what a newbie dbag fan you sound like..if you want to be entertained go to a f'n circus.

the only way we were losing that game yesterday was turnovers. up to that point we had one turnover from passing and none from the ground game so why not just bleed the clock & win the game. sorry if you got bored. take a coloring book next time maybe

texans fans... where throwing the ball is more important than winning. you mustve loved this team in 07-09

I handle my drink better than most people handle their food. lol...Paint chips? Can't you come up with something better than ripping off Chris Farley? There's one fat cat that had no problem standing up and yelling whenever he felt like it!

This is so typical. There was little to complain about (except the offense going into full clenched sphincter mode, which is why the wave happened) so people come on and dis the wave. I dare any of the sitting down punks in this thread to start a logical assessment OF THE GAME using observations, statistical analysis, commenting on other written pieces about the game. Then we can avoid "I think you're stupid" "I think you're fat" discussions.

The Wave is going to make a comeback at some point...

I haven't seen a really good one in a while....

But yeah...Don't do it when your team is on offense

It's not about throwing the ball, it's about not being so predictable.

I'm creating a 'Wave' app for smartphones. When you activate it shows a video of dumbasses doing the wave so you dont have to look like a dumbass doing the wave.

I just find it funny that the wave is turning out to be one of the most discussed topics coming out of a winning effort for the Texans. You can't make this stuff up.

again it made perfect sense to bleed the clock and run with one of the best running games in the nfl all while reducing the risk of turnovers. good things happen when we run the ball alot (26-2 after yest when we have 30 carries). do you want me to go back to posts from last yr when we all bitched about games where we shouldve ran more?

and wasnt trying to be an internet bully but your post rly pissed me off.. 'i was bored..maybe next time they'll call better plays' just the whole general winning isnt enough vibe from your post. newbie fans think that. sorry

And apparently it's wrong for the fans to try and have some fun during the least interesting part of the game. I don't recall the wave causing Tate to fumble because that was the end result of that drive.

well the team did their job so nothing rly to discuss, the fans on the other hand.......

fan support will prob be a factor this season whether its in one of our big games later in the season or the (hopefully) home playoff game we finish with. its time for fans to start holding themselves as accountable as they do with the team

I think its silly to think the wave caused the penalty or fumble. I don't like the wave because I think its outdated and played out. That's just my personal opinion. But I also think the bored argument is pretty weak too. If we're getting bored with winning then something is wrong.

This is true. For me it's because this game actually bored the hell out me. I'm happy we beat the jagholes, but it felt like we blew our wod on the first drive and it was as entertaining for me as it usually is.

We were going to throw the ball on third down anyway.... we need to get 1st downs as much as we need to run out the clock. Mix it up a little bit, throw it on first down. throw it on second down. run, run, pass...

c'mon.

I'm personally happy with the win, but I'm serious, people were going to the bathroom & buying nachos when we were on offense, trying to get back to their seats before the defense took the field.

That game looked a lot like the Raider game, when a lesser team hung around & beat us, because we did the same thing.

I'd have been happy if they pitched the ball to get Arian free on the edges like they did last week. Ran a couple of screens like last week. Get Arian the ball in the passing game, like last week. But running it up the middle for a 2 yard loss on 1st down.... again, & again, and again...

I did the wave, several times.

What I think happened was that the Occupy Wall Street folks pooled all of their grilled cheese sales together, bought tickets to the Texans vs Jags and staged a tsunami like FU to the world.

In the words of Bodhi
What's the matter with you guys? This was never about the Texans, this was about us against the system. That system that kills the human spirit. We stand for something. We are here to show those guys that are inching their way on the freeways in their metal coffins that the human sprit is still alive.

I think it was in direct reflection of holding the team accountable.

Excuse me. The knowledgable fan knows it is entirely appropriate to answer, "And that's another Texans..." with:

"FIRST DOWN"

1) it is in between plays so it doesn't interfere with the tennis match
2) it celebrates the accomplishment and acknowledges the importance of another ten yards gained*
3) it doesn't leave the PA announcer hanging

*I admit that this point could be countered with the "act like you've been there before" argument.

I am pretty sure the wave was a political statement about how we weren't going to put up with socialized medicine in Texas.

That or the constant battle between light and dark.

I haven't quite figured it out yet but I plan on spending the next week discussing it here.

whatever... go back and look at the play by play since you were obviously too busy watching what every1 in the stands was doing to remember what was happening in the game. on the drive before the wave, we had gotten a td because of those boring runs up the middle (mixed in with a few throws on first downs of course)

hope you enjoyed the wave. i didnt enjoy the offensive huddle and kubiak (rightfully) looking up into the stands with 'what are these dumbasses doing faces and why wont they STFU' faces/actions. it was embarassing.

I didn't know the wave was going on. I hardly saw anyone in the seats. Just glad to know our fans were doing something because when i go to the games people ask me to actually sit down and be quiet.

However, I agree. No noise while we are on offense.
