Where is Mike Lombardi Now?

Actually, we spend a great deal of time on this board worried about the national media's perception. Waaaay too much time.

And let's actually get to a playoff game before we start "We have shown those guys that they don't know what they are talking about" threads. The Texans have not. You think that was the first physical game we have played? Can we do this week-in and week-out for a whole season. My memory works past last week and recall that we were 4-2 last year looking like the darling surprise team of the league.

BTW, Lombardi is right there on NFL.com if you need him.

That may be the case but he did say that until we can beat another quality physical team he would keep his opinion about our team. Well we just took out the #2 ranked defense in the league and we did it running over Troy P. and Duane Brown knocking the vision out of Harrison (who happens to be the guy that gets fined for his vicious hits on offensive players) along with sacking Big Ben 5 times after hearing how he's such a force to bring down and he can evade tackles to extend plays and get the yardage necessary.

We opened the game with a 10:55 second drive. We owned the T.O.P. 21:00 - 9:00 at halftime. We ended the game about even.

That's not going to work against the Ravens @ Baltimore.

According to Lombardi, you don't win the SB if you're a soft team.

By winning a SB, you suddenly become not-soft and not-finesse. If only for that season.

I know, it doesn't make sense, but it's his definition of the terms he's using. According to him, just by using the zone blocking scheme, we're soft... UNTIL we win a SB to show that we're not soft.

I never thought I'd see the day, when TK was as tired of Kubiak's lack
of results (wins,) as I was. I'll believe season 6 differs from the previous
5 when I see it.

Don't look now dude but the Texans are presently the #1 seed in the AFC. I know I know your pee pee hurts because they never were a good team before but this is 2011 the paradigm has changed and the Kubiak and Philips led Texans are a power to be reckoned with. Open the package, you don't need sugar, the koolaid comes in whatever flavor you like.

While I understand your point, and even agree with it somewhat, I'm going to attribute the Steelers catching up to the fact that our whole team (along with all the Texans' fans in the nation) went into stunned shock when A.J. went down.

Kubiak had to gather the offense together on the sideline (I think he actually had a Bill Cowher moment) and wake them the hell up. And damn if it didn't work.

And no, we can't play that way against the Ravens. Hell, we can't play that way against ANYBODY

A win over the Titans should put Lombardi in his place. He seems to think they are the best team in the division, let's prove him wrong!!!
 
Mike Lombardi is sitting somewhere not giving a crap about the Texans, like most of the Country. The only way to change that is to start winning. This Sunday would be nice.
 
Were six games into the season and we are at .500 and the only decent team we have beat is the steelers who haven't played worth a crap all year. I would say right now that Lombardi hit the nail on the head. Until we PROVE otherwise by actually beating a FEW good teams and keep the not so good teams down with our foot in their necks, he will continue to be right, like it or not.

One more time

Until the Texans put together an entire playoff season where they consistently tough, quality 4 quarter football, Lombardi is going to be very right. I know it is easier to hate the cocky dude with Philly accent, but he has not said anything that a good portion of this board has said over and over and over.

Anyway, why do you care about proving something to a guy that you don't really respect as knowledgable?

exactly. the guy says that the texans lack toughness because they can't finish games against good teams and win on the road. he also said the titans would be better than anybody thought and were his pick to win the division.

so here we are and the texans are 3-3, having been blown away in the 4th quarter against the three good teams they've played. titans are in first place. don't shoot the messenger, bro.

Yeah, I thought it was sort of funny at how peeved so many were with what Lombardi had to say before the season as if the Texans hadn't had several years of history to give him that sort of analysis of this team under Gary Kubiak and Bob Mcnair. All Lombardi was doing was giving his opinion based off of a perception that he was able to put together from 5 years of the Kubiak era, and people acted like he was some major Texans basher or some radical guy on drugs or something. So far this season, his analysis has been pretty accurate.
 
The oldest origin of the word SOFT is traced back to 1200c................“Causing little hardship or suffering.” Can't find a reason to get too upset with anyone that uses this word to describe the Texans to date..........they have inflicted little hardship or suffering on opposing teams with ANY consistency. :mcnugget:

Then the Texans aren't soft, because they have caused plenty of hardship and suffering to WE FANS for years......
 
I didn't mind Lombardi calling us soft. What I disliked was Lombardi's definition of soft.

According to him, if you win a SB, then you aren't soft.

The Saints were soft. They were a passing team, a finesse team. Until they won the SB. And they won the SB because they became hard. Even though the were still a passing team, a finesse team.

He said that zone blocking teams were soft. Except those that had won Super Bowls.

So his definition of soft is bullshit and doesn't mean anything. Until we win the SB, he can say we're soft. Beating the Titans, beating the Steelers, that doesn't make us not-soft.
