Wouldn't this be nice: Orlando Ledbetter's mock draft

In his mock draft for the AJC, Orlando Ledbetter had Patrick Peterson falling to us:
1. Carolina: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama: The Panthers take a building block for their defense. “Marcell Dareus is certainly worthy (of the top pick),” Kiper said. “He has his weight up to about 319. He’s got a ton of talent.”

2. Denver: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn: He had his weight back up to 297 at Auburn’s pro day and moved well through the drills.

3. Buffalo: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri: Chan Gailey gets a quarterback to groom.

4. Cincinnati: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia: This could be a tough place for Green to land as their quarterback situation ison shaky ground.

5. Arizona: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn: Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt was real intense at Newton’s workout at Auburn’s pro day. Whisenhunt had Newton make some extra passes after his scripted workout.

6. Cleveland: Da’ Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson: He was a dominant run stuffer and a productive pass rusher for the Tigers.

7. San Francisco: Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas: His raw talent is too much for the 49ers to pass up.

8. Tennessee: J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin: The Titans have to rebuild their defensive line.

9. Dallas: Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M: He is an explosive player who had 27.5 sacks over the last two seasons. “I really like Von Miller and the great, great leverage that he has coming off the edge,” Kiper said.

10. Washington: Cameron Jordan, DE, California: The Sporting News compares him to a young Richard Seymour.

11. Houston: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU: The Texans have to improve their secondary.

Too good to be true. Hard to see three QBs taken in the top 10 with this weak QB class.

Hard for me to see the Cowboys passing up Peterson.

that seems like a very realistic draft.

no way it falls like that

O wait, Al is not drafting in the top ten this year

Some people make unrealistic mocks just so that they'll be noticed no matter how dumb they look. This one is very unrealistic.

as crazy as it sounds having peterson drop to 11; the picks he put ahead all make some sort of sense when you take into account team needs/drafting philosophies/positional value etc... though I agree, peterson does not get by dallas if he does drop

No way Dallas passes on Peterson for Miller. Swap those two, and I think it's a bit more realistic, but I still don't see 3 QBs going in the top 10. 2 at most, and if that happens I'll be happy; 3 and I'll be ecstatic!

Heh, no kidding.

Besides, he's a prominent writer for a world class newspaper; not some message board doof with a blog. He doesn't need to do things "to be noticed," his and his newspaper's reputations take care of that by themselves.

So you think that just because he works for a world class newspaper he doesn't need to draw attention to his work. LOL, Giraldo Rivera is a world class journalist for a major network and he still does sensationalized journalism, Wayne Dolcefino is a journalist for a local major network as well but he also partakes in sensationalized journalism. Just because you work for a major newspaper or network doesn't mean that you don't have to do things to be noticed, just the opposite is probably true those guys have even more pressure to be noticed. They have to keep their newspaper or network on top and have pressure to perform. They count the number of website hits as a means to sell advertisement.

Ledbetter's a sensationalist on par with Giraldo now because he projected Peterson to fall to 11?

I guess that makes sense in an event where Tyson Alualu went #10 last year. Because, after all, if there's one thing we know, it's that the draft conforms to the messageboard "draftniks'" preconceptions.

I can see no QB's taken before us, but I wouldn't really be shocked if three are drafted. People get so bat **** crazy over QB's that they panic and reach to have one.

I never said that, please don't twist my words to your meaning.
