Saints @ Seahawks

I'll be glad when Mike Mayock won't be announcing games anymore. Whoever decided that a man with a lisp should be a sportscaster should be shot.

:thumbup..I guarantee you this, Carroll had absolutely **** to do with that incredible play. The seahawks knew they had to run to make sure the clock continued to move..the saints knew they had to run for the same reason so they stacked the box & somehow Lynch bolo's out of it for the game winning score. Players make plays.
 
Well damn. I don't dislike the Seahawks but to see a losing team in the playoffs and win just rubs me the wrong way. Good for them but I hope they get spanked next week.
 
This is why the NFL is king of all american sports leagues. Any given suday folks....any given sunday.

When the playoffs start the records go to 0-0.

Saints expected to be handed a victory but the Seahawks punched them in the mouth and the Aints lost like the soft,finesse team they are.
 
I'm glad to see the Seahawks take it. That was a good game. I wished I had seen all of it, but I did get to see bit and pieces of it. Hasselbeck looked like he was really on today.
 
Seems like the Julius Jones injury was really a punch to the junk for the Saints. They didn't really recover from that.

That run by Lynch might have been the greatest I have ever seen!

I am hoping for a Steelers vs Seahawks Superbowl lol!

Steelers and Seahawks in the Superbowl would suit me fine as well. I do not want to see the Jets, Dolts or Patsies in the SB.

That play didn't happen in a vacuum. Carroll had his team prepared,
focused, and ready to go. That play was a part of a well-coached
GAME.

They certainly don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but they did deserve the win. They played a hell of a game and it'll be nice to have the Saints fans STFU for a bit.
 
A big thank you to Seattle. I will be going to Starbucks tomorrow morning and will purchase an $8.00 cup of coffee in honor of your victory. Thank you again for kicking the dog piss out of the saints. You have no idea how much this means to me. :hurrah:
 
I owe Matt Hasselbeck an apology. I always felt that he simply wasn't a good quarterback even his prime, and that he only benefited from defenses trying to stop Shaun Alexander by stuffing the box. But I should also admit that I had not paid much attention to the Seahawks during their seasons leading up to their Superbowl run, so I was merely judging Matt without "watching the film." Everyone gets old and clearly Matt is not as good as he was years ago, but for today he showed what he once was.

This was Matt's swan song, and it was beautiful.

props to Seattle - we got our asses kicked!

and props to Lynch on that run - the dive into the end zone I didn't mind, either. But grabbing his crotch was a bit over the top.

Too bad Brees can't play defense. That's what surprises me the most - how the back end of our defense played in the game. Hasslebeck having success throwing the ball doesn't surprise me - he had a lot of yards in the first game against us, but they didn't finish drives.

This time, they did.

We really missed Jenkins... I don't know that I've seen Sharper look that old. And Harper had his worst game in a while it looked like.

But credit to Hasselbeck - there were some amazing throws and plays he made. I was really impressed.

It's strange.... but last postseason as I was much more anxious, much more nervous than I was for this one.

I think our RB situation is going to be a tough one to solve. With Bush's price tag, I think it's only gotten harder this season to justify keeping him at that salary. I think there will have to be some re-negotiation - but if there's another team willing to pay what he's making now or more than we will, he's gone. But he hasn't helped his bargaining position - from his first drop of the game on the opening drive that at least gives us 1st and goal from inside the 5.

Pierre Thomas and the FO have had a rocky year. Ivory can't stay healthy.

Kind of a mess. And I honestly don't know what they'll do or how they'll attack.

Also, despite yesterday's performance, I'm still happy with our pass D. I'll take the top 5 ranking from a year's worth of games in terms of passing TDs allowed and pass yardage allowed over 1 playoff game where Seattle was ready and executed. I like Jenkins and Harper. I like Porter and Greer. And I like how Patrick Robinson looks as a rookie.

But we have zero zero pass rush. Will Smith is not a good DE. He looked thoroughly lazy. Alex Brown is solid against the run (typically) but no pressure on the QB either. In our front 7, really only Vilma and Ellis are strong players.

With no pressure, I've seen QBs have far too long to throw consistently all season. Our DBs have been bailing them out all year - but yesterday Hasselbeck was simply better. And with a bit of time, he made great throws.

It looked like we game planned for Whitehurst or something.

Anyway, 11-5 and a postseason appearance is something I can live with. Being bounced unceremoniously and in such an embarrassing fashion stings. But strangely enough, I'm more upbeat than I thought I would've been.

I guess the best thing we can hope for now is that there actually is football next season.
 
my 5 year old was sick last night with a high fever so I watched the game sort of but didn't post.

Dude......I was LOL'ing the whole game. I can't believe Seattle did it. Effing crazy. I don't know if this is true or not, but at one point when the Seahawks just beat the Rams to make the playoffs, I believe Vegas had some stupid amount like 100-1 odds on them winning the Wildcard game.

I had a feeling I should have taken that even for just $100 as that would have turned into 10K last night with the win....damnit!!! :)

C'mon Seattle....keep it going!!

I didn't see those odds.

I know they had 100-to-1 odds (acc to some sites) to win the Super Bowl (I've seen numbers ranging from 80-1 to 250-1)

here's one site that had them at 100-1 for the Super Bowl and 6-1 to beat the Saints (if I'm reading this right... not really a gambler):

Just to not hear "who dat", see "lil Breezy" NFL.com shirt plugs for the umpteenth time, Brees snoring in bed cranked out on Vicks, and newly acquired Saint flags and car stickers for at least a year = heaven.

Sorry, Saint fans - I was glad to see the Seahawks win, just to take some of the edge off the Mardi Gras uppity attitude. Understandable after many years of ineptness - but it just became too much in one year Otherwise, I do like the Saints and perhaps they'll straighten it out soon, especially with the RB situaiton.

Just don't get a new coach, cause that would be traumatic to the team.

I think this is a fair take and I don't have a problem with people complaining about all the "Who Dats" and the commercials and the coverage.

If I wasn't a Saints fan, I'd probably feel the same way. As a Saints fan, though, I eat it up and won't apologize for it :D
 
as you shouldn't - I'd be in the same position as well if roles were reversed. Maybe the Texans will make it all the way one of these years...

yes..yes it did. I mean, i could understand if it were a great offensive call that sprung Lynch but it wasn't. Everyone watching the game & in the stadium knew what the seahawks were gonna do. & For all the preparation & great game planning they were still only 4 pts up in the 4th and like 6 minutes left in the game...plenty of time for Brees & co to go down & score a TD to go ahead. Had Lynch not made that incredible run, there's still a pretty good chance the saints can come back & win that game. Players make plays.

I thought it was simply a matter of being prepared. Surely the Saints weren't prepared to have allowed 34 points to the Seahawks.
