I was sickened by the number of cowboy fans in MY HOME TEAM's STADIUM!
I hope those of you who did it, and believe me a whole bunch of you did, don't ever renew your seats again. WE DON"T NEED HALF way fans!

Or maybe there are a lot of Texans fans who's number 1 team is Dallas? I wouldn't be surprised given how many people I know in Houston who relocated here from other parts of Texas. For some of my friends, Dallas is their #1 team (NFC) and the Texans are #2 (AFC). It's not the case for everyone, but I'm sure that would explain a good amount given the lack of accomplishments on the Texan's part.

I would have been pissed if I had tickets to go to the game and I had turned down thousands of dollars to see that kind of effort.

Texans fans will be what we all want them to be when the Texans hold up their end of the bargain.

Anyone who doubts the quality of our city's appreciate for football needs to look at the Colts game. When the team comes out hungry, so do the fans

I'm a little confused. Are you saying Texans fans knew there would be a subpar effort and didn't come or they changed their loyalty once they got there and the team started stinking up the place?

I love Houston, but anyone who's honest with themselves knows its a bit of a fair weather sports town. I'm guessing Dallas fans had no problem getting tickets. I have been pricing them for the SD game and there are tons available at nearly face value. It is what it is.
 
Get used to it. As long as the Cowboys are relevant, and the Texans are not, you are going to see alot of Cowboy fans in our stadium.

I bet Bears fans fill up Ford Field when those 2 teams go at it.

What I find funny are these pathetic so called fans that think they can tell so many other fans how to root for their team and what they can and cannot do. Sorry, but anyone who has ever been to Reliant Stadium and seen the dedication from Houston fans, and then turns around and criticizes us are freaking clueless. Hell, we've put up with all of these horrible Capers seasons and mediocre Kubiak failures over the last few years, and yet the fans are still selling out stadiums and have a great atmosphere at Reliant stadium and tailgating. Texans fans have been through all types of problems in the 8 years that this organization has been around, and people are still rooting as hard as they can, and just because a bunch of Dallas fans show up to a game when they're a few hours away and one of the most popular teams in the sport, and here we've got random posters coming in here and blasting away at other fans who support the team.

And what's even more stupid as hell about this is that if we would have won, no one would have even cared about how many Dallas fans were there. SInce we lost, these guys want something to to whine about.

YUP!! I didn't bring my "A" game as a fan. I had a reunion Saturday night and didn't home until 5:30 in the morning. That said I missed my ride and had to take a cab to the game. My lot opens at 7:00a.m. and I didn't get there until around 9:00.

This is on me!!

Mods, please change the title of this thread to "Shame on Bill".

Not true, for me at least.

What the crowd told me was that a lot of Texans fans sold their tickets and chose a few hundred bucks over supporting their team.

I get broker seats and Dallas fans who otherwise support the Texans. But the shear number of Dallas fans stated that a lot of Texans fans took the money.

First, the players and coaches treated this game exactly like any other, or even less than any other, kills some of the mood. Whats the point in building a Texas rivalry if no one cares enough to even aknowledge it?

Second, I think the Texans fans would have seemed much greater in number if our team had been winning. You always notice the loudest fans. It seemed like there were a lot of Cowboys fans there watching the broadcast because they had a lot to cheer for. If we had come out guns blazing, Im sure the Texans fans would have been on their feet making the Cowboys fans who were there seem tiny in number.

Cowboys Texans tickets were going for 5x or more face value. People were selling hundred dollar seats for a thousand bucks.

This is not a fair weather city, and I hate having to continually defend that. We are a proud city, and we dont' like to cheer for garbage. Who can fault fans who don't want to buy in to a team that has spent 8 seasons building up to a 9-7 record.

The price of the Cowboys tickets is the perfect indication that this city wants desperately a team to cheer for. They want to love football. Its a 2 way street. The stadium has been sold out every single game.
 
I never have understood these damn threads on this message board. I think most, if not all the members here are diehard Texans fans. I think we all go (or want to really badly) when we have the tickets to go.

Call the local news and ***** about it, not here.

Compare to getting a ticket to ANY Cleveland, Green Bay, Washington, Kansas City, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Denver etc...game. Even in 30 degree weather when they suck.

When I had season tickets to the Oilers, I could drive up to the stadium 15 minutes before kick-off with next to no traffic, walk into a 1/2 empty stadium, get a beer and still be in my seat before kick off. Of course when they got good, that always changed.

I'm not saying we don't have our share of die-hard fans (we do), but for a city the size Houston, the lean year support isn't near what it should be for any of the sports franchises.

I was able to purchase 4 tickets to the Redskins game last week in DC for $30 under face value for each ticket. I got the tickets off ebay, but stubhub had similar values.

It was 75 and beautiful that day, too, and they had just come off a win against Dallas.

I think perceptions can be a little misleading sometimes.

I think Texans fans (except during our 2-14 season), are pretty good in general
 
I can't afford season tickets and single gamers would even be a bit of a stretch for me.

I am more than deidcated to this team and city. Been on board since day 1. Anyone who knows me knows this and no one would doubt it for a second so there is no way I can prove that online to people who don't know me.

That said, I am greatful for the times I have been able to go and would never pass that up. But at the same time, I currently work 2 jobs just to stay a float and have extra money every month, so if I was fortunate enough to have season tickets and I knew I could make that kind of cash, I would have at least considered selling them too. I need the money. Those that needed the money I can't blame.

Just being honest.

However, I think what really bothers me more than anything was how the team kept blowing this game off as just another game. Get a grip guys.....:wadepalm:

You can't even call it fair weather, since we were 2-0 and people STILL sold their damn tickets to a big game. You see it every time you go to a game, people sitting on their hands and just kind of into it. It gets old.

Put that in context though. The population of Houston in the 70's was 1.2 Million. As a comparison, San Antonio's population today is around, 1.4 million. While those numbers represent actual city populations and not the Greater Areas, Sugar Land was a county stick town and Katy was way the hell out there. West Houston basically ended at Gessner.

I agree.

But I believe (not based on any facts) that the actual number of Texans fans in the city is pretty small (for such a large population).

But until

a) we win or
b) a generation has been raised on the Texans (we're getting close to that!)

I think it's hard to have mass appeal.

And we'll always be fighting the fact Houston is a transplant city.

I'm not THAT much older than you Bill, I was talking the '80s ;) No matter, Houston was/is the 4th largest city in the US no?

Anyway...I sure would like to meet the suckers who paid $1,000 a ticket. They may want to try ebay next time.

Gotta admit, that surprised me. The last few years we have gone to Pittsburgh, KC, and New England and paid a good premium each time.

Can always get Titans tix cheap though. :D

This is the Texans ninth season. I've had the same seats for NINE years and know just about EVERYONE around me, including what seats are ticketmaster seats, corp seats, or PSLs that are owned by PEOPLE who sell their seats for profit! My section, 116, BULLPEN was over half full with Cowboy fans. It got that way because PSL owners either sold their tickets to stub-hub, ticketmaster, or privately, to make money. That's their business. The guy behind me on row C sold his on e-bay for 440 bucks per seat. Point is! Those of us who are diehards and never miss a game, KNOW who our seat buddies are.

I've sold my seats several times, for face value, and only to a TEXAN fan. I make sure of that. I was offered $1000 for two of my seats on row N, by a Cowboy fan. I refused to sell. Another guy, a Texan fan, offered me 500 bucks for those 2 seats, he backed out, and I'm glad. I had a disgusting feeling even thinking about selling my tickets for that much money, even though it sure would have boosted my playoff kitty. I'm not opposed to fans making money off their tickets if they need to, that's their business. I just wish they would be loyal enough to sell to TEXAN fans and not opposing teams fans. Read this board! There are always Texan fans looking for tickets, so why sell to the enemy!
 
Ultimate fandom occurs when tickets start being handed down through the families and their wills. Money? **** that! WHO gets the tickets is all that matters.

I've already included our seats in my will. I did that the day I renewed for the first time this year.

Whenever I've had an extra ticket, I don't put it up on Stub Hub or anything like that. I bring it to our tailgate and ultimately someone needs a seat. Since Blue Crewers are all Texans fans, I know a Texans fan will be in that seat. See JB for the Cowpokes game.

^^^This is true. Most of the fans here are the diehards that wouldn't sell their seats unless they had to. The few that I am aware of that did sell their seats tried to make sure they only sold them to Texans fans. This thread would be more appropriate on the official board (however on second thought I am not sure most on the official board are old enough to afford tickets).

This kind of thing makes me want to puke. There really should be a rule against resellers owning tickets in the Bullpen. I don't mind opposing fans lining the nosebleeds, but the Bullpen should be off limits.

I'm with Sandy and Bill on this issue. I have 2 extra tickets to most games, and I try and sell at face value to friends. I would feel horrible having non Texans fans use our seats.

The people on either side and above us have become "friendly" over the years, and I would feel like I was letting them down by bringing in non Texans fan.

(Although, I did have reassure them that a certain somebody in a predator mask was safe)

But, it is not to me to dictate what anyone else does with their tickets, which is why you will never see me starting threads like this.

Thats interesting. My away game experiences are limited to this past one at DC and Carolina (thats a stadium that is EASY to get tickets to!)

I was very happy with our DC ticket prices. We paid $45 a ticket for $79 facevalue tickets. And on ebay too, so no fees.

Redskins still have a long wait for season tickets, but maybe the recession is hitting them hard

In DC you aren't allowed to sell your tickets above face value. Of course people get around that, but still, it means when we went to the game, we were very much in the minority

It was disgusting TD, and truthfully, very sad. I stood at the top of section 116-117 (this is the aisle between the two sections that make the Bullpen) for a long time Sunday, and just watched people. I was stunned by what I saw. Not only was the Bullpen packed with Cowboy fans, the number of Texan fans (wearing Texan gear anyway) pulling for the Cowboys was jaw dropping. I truly did not know what to think, or say. Kay walked up to me and all I could do was shake my head, I truly wanted to puke, just like you said. I've been on the Bullpen Committee for nine years now, and I am truly disgusted with the Bullpen members and their lack of loyalty. These are SUPPOSE to be your DIEHARD fans, the one's who stand the entire game, yell and scream until you can't talk, fans that live TEXAN talk on a daily basis, dress in crazy gear, don't take crap off anyone from another team, the Texans FAN ZONE, equal to the Black Hole, the Dawg Pound, the Hawks Nest. Some of them sold out for a few bucks, plain and simple. In our defense, a lot of this is the Texans fault! We have been BEGGING them from the beginning to do whatever it takes to remove ticketmaster and broker seats from the Bullpen. They CAN relocate them if they wanted to, they just haven't done it.

I'm done with ranting! Time to move on and see what the Raiders Black Hole will do to our Texans come Sunday!!

Hell, Bears fans filled up Cowboys Stadium last Sunday. You could hear their yells loud and clear.
 
I brought this here for one thing and one thing only, the so called 'fans' who sold their tickets for cheap easy bucks to dallas fan. If you went to the game, like I did and like I have been going for the past 82 games, this isn't meant for you.

BUT, if you did sell out, then this IS meant for you.

Look, it's been tough for 9+ seasons now, but either you are a fan or you are not. If the team sucks, it sucks, but you still support your team. I get tired of this statement...'oh, as soon as the Texans do this or win this...blah blah blah..."

SUPPPORT YOUR TEAM or BEAT IT!
But the number of cowboy fans in Reliant yesterday was an embarrassment.
