NFL Draft 2010: Day 2

The guy is next Wes Welker and I'm an Aggie. He's someone I would love to pick up.

I'm right there with you.

Are you actually an Aggie, or just a fan like myself?

(I am actually a student now, majoring in music. If I weren't majoring in the arts, you had better bet I would be in College Station right now.)

Gerhart could have gotten us the couple yards we needed last year. We have never had a guy could run like that, including the Great Dane. The guy also had the winning attitude intangible.

Wow. Eisen completely dissed fans who say they don't like NFLN beating the commissioner to the punch on announcing the picks.

EXACT WORD-FOR-WORD QUOTE from Eisen:

"You know sometimes we get some criticism that we tell you about the pick before you hear it from the commissioner, we're only doing our jobs. And you're going to get it from somewhere if you don't get it from us..."

In short: NFLN follows the tweets and re-announces news that has already been tweeted.

The old media is being undermined, and they are pissed about it. That's why they are trying to beat people to the punch.

tbh imo the draft would be 5 times more enjoyable if they didnt scoop the picks or show guys on the phone. let the commish announce the pick and react. thats all we want them to do. reactions are what make the draft great.

highlights of this years draft- the jags pick- nobody scooped the pick. pure WOW monent. ditto with the eagles taking graham (everyone expected thomas) & denver with tebow which was ruined slightly by showing tebow on the phone

I am one of those critics. OK if I want to know who the TEXANS select before the commissioner says so then I will find it. But for the other 31 picks in each round I would rather hear the commissioner than cut to some crybaby in the green room on a phone!

I'm really nervous about Cody. His weight issues worry me. He's the type of DT I think we need, but I don't think he has the discipline to succeed at the NFL level.

He'll have a Tide support group and we don't need him for three downs. Quite a luxury in the 3rd.

No, but if we lose those types of games next year you will seriously not be liking this trade down IF Gerhart turns out to be a good back.

I hear what you're saying.

But think about this: He is going to do BETTER by benefit of playing on the Vikings and all the ways they use their WRs and All-Universe running back.

On our team, I think he would possibly be a James Casey version 2.0 with all that potential and not really seeing as much opportunity as he will in Minny. He is going to be a Dallas Clark-type player in that Vikings offense.

i know what you meant i was only messing. better blockers (possibly with that extra pick) will hopefully help end that problem also. foster got into the EZ and got important yds at the end of the year

Texans will draft Jim Brown. 74 year old running back from Syracuse. Intangibles: Cane and a cold hard stare. I think he can be had in the 3rd round.

Isn't he a WR? I think we should address more important needs like OL DT CB or FS. I dont mind if we get a HB or not.

Yes he is a WR...

I don't disagree that the need isn't at WR. But if you get to that point in the draft, and you think that Shipley is the kind of guy who can be a very good WR for you (and he certainly has shown he has the skills), I think you take him.

And I am not one to praise a tea-sip...

5 more picks before us and Tate and Dwyer are still on the board

And, Hardesty, Morgan Burnett, Chad Jones, Mt. Cody(I don't think Smith/Kubiak see him as a fit in our system, i hope I'm wrong), and a couple of interior OLs that is worthy of the 2nd pick.

This is good since we pick up an extra 3rd and will still get Tate judging by the teams left in front of us. Dwyer at worst. Is it just me or do we get a disproportionate number of 3rd round picks thru trades? Almost like Smithiak lives for the 3rd round.

I bet we thought we would get Neal with the Vikings pick. We may be scrambling right now. RBs are going in the 3rd, hopefully we get Burnett in the 2nd, the DTs are starting to get thin.

Why are people so upset about this. Over and over again I've heard, on this board and other NFL boards, that this is one of the deepest draft in recent years. We get an extra THIRD just by going back 11 spot. That is a huge pick-up, and I'm confident Smitiak can pick good players in all three of our picks today.

because thay have a certain player they are stuck on that they think will take this team to the superbowl. then all you hear about is how new england never gets stuck on one player and thats why they rule the draft.

I don't trust the Texans drafting a DT high after both Travis Johnson and Amobi Okoye. It's like the position we keep drafting high and that position never pans out. Maybe the Texans will have better luck picking up a later round DT.

are u talking about Golden Tate or Ben Tate

I can also see us drafting Jon Asamoah.. good fit in the ZBS. Very athletic player, smart guy, has leadership.. everything Kubiak/Smith likes in a draft prospect.
