I have friends who are in the airline industry and since 9/11 and this economy and just all around policy changes, those are hard to come by these days unless your married/parents of or to, or just damn lucky...but its not impossible, they just risk getting fired now if they get caught.
 
I had a friend who dated a girl a while back - hers was like insurance - you had to list someone and then could only change it once a year...
 
Take it from a former airline employee: The passes aren't as good as it was years ago. With airline prices so cheap now, using those passes to fly standby could make you waste a lot of time at airports just to grab a flight.

I would suggest using Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. and save the headache.
