RD1 Brandon Ghee CB WF Haden will be gone Ghee is the next CB on my board, big hard hitting and good cover CB
RD2 Toby Gerhart RB Stan. Thunder to Slatons lightening, could be a full time RB IMO
RD3 Jon Asamoah G Ill. Tough guy, most atheletic G in draft, hard worker, perfect fit for the ZBS
Dunta comp. pick
RD3 Mitch Petrus G Ark. team leader, another great athelete, very quick, needs to improve functional strength, in 2 yrs he will be well worth the wait
RD4 Ben Tate RB Aub. BPA, pick seems redundant but Tate will be a great goal line RB who also has good speed, Think Cowgirls Barber and Choice not bad
RD5 Robert Johnson S Utah Fast good coverage FS, poor mans Burnett
RD6 Brandon Brinkley CB Hou. Fast, good cover CB
RD6 Marshall Newhouse G TCU Atheletic, has started at LT since freshman year, Has tools great developmental guy for A.Gibbs to work with
RD7 Zoltan Mesko P Mich. best P in college, big leg, cheaper than Turk

With this mock the Texans would solve the short yardage problems and add 3 young fast talented DB's. As well as a great young punter.

Let the critiques begin.

I would rather trade out of the 1st then spend the pick on Ghee. I just dont think the guy is 1st round material and would love to have Warren if the Texans could not get Haden.

I agree, Ghee is not a big play guy. I do not call a guy with 4 career INT a big play guy. His numbers appear more like a SS than a CB.

I have to agree, I don't think that Ghee is 1st round material. If Haden is gone then I'd go for Morgan Burnett-FS, second best coverage FS behind Berry, or Trevard Lindley. Also I think it's way to early to be giving ourselves an extra 3rd round pick for Dunta. I like the idea of Asamoah or Petrus in the 3rd round and the Tate pick in the 4th is very good as well.

I'd opt for Lindley after Haden. Haden is the physical freak who happens to be a ball hawk as well. Lindley is just the ball hawk. A first round CB should be one who has consistently made plays on the ball. Stat's do matter in this case.

I could see drafting Lindley over Ghee.

Smithiak seem to like more physical CB's and Ghee is more physical than Lindley.

After watching last nights game anybody who doesn't think Duntas gone after this season is fooling themselves. IMO

Right now I would rather use top picks on Safety, RB or DT. I think GQ + Reeves can start next year and this team has some depth at DB.

I wouldn't have a problem drafting a DT or OL in the first Rd.

There is no RB worthy of a 1st rd pick in this years draft. IMO

I do like Dwyer,Matthews or Gerhart in the 2nd rd though. I think one of these RB's should be available.

After watching the RB's struggle again last night RB should be a priority. I wish McNair would have allowed Smithiak to sign LJ. He couldn't be any worse than what is currently on the roster at RB.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if the Texans went rd.1 OL rd.2 RB

It also wouldn't hurt if they went rd1 CB rd2 S

I do think there will be some good OL available in the 3rd rd and with the Dunta comp pick Smithiak will have 2 3rd's to play with.

Yeah , I dont see Dunta back with the Texans next year - especially not for the $$$ Dunta will be asking for - He' cant cover a child with a blanket .... I dont think he works as a safety either - time to cut and run.

They do have a couple holes I'd like to see filled one way or another - be it FA or draft.

I have to start up front on both sides of the ball - Interior OL and DL.

The DL has been better than in the past but not quite good enough when the cards are on the table.

The OL has been hit by the injury bug - the unit as a whole has been decent in pass protection and sub par run blocking. Improvement has to be made here.

RB - Slaton is what he was drafted to be - a third down back. Brown isnt a "Power back" - Too slow and has a high center of gravity.

CB - With the probabal departure of Dunta - Im not comfortable going into next season with Quin , McCain , Reeves , Molden and Bennett. Quin has played well and Reeves has surprised me but they will need help here.

S - Pollard should be resigned , he's been a huge part of this teams defensive turn around - But the rest of the Safety's on this roster are backups at best.

Texans need to look at Thomas, Burnett and Stuckey for a Safety. I dont think there is any chance of Berry.

The reason I would go OL and RB in the first 2 rds is that I believe in playing to the teams strengths. While also taking BPA.

There is only one CB worth a 1st rd pick in this years draft. (Haden) There are several OL that are worthy of 1st rd picks. I say take BPA in this case.

Plus there will be some very good Cb's-S available in the in the 3rd or 4th rds. (Arenas,Wright etc.)

I might even take a WR in the 3rd with the Dunta comp pick and let Walter leave. With the money saved not re-signing Dunta and Walter, Smithiak should be able to sign a quality DT (Seymour or Hampton) even if they have over pay a little there should be plenty of cap space. I want a proven vet because Smithiak have proven to be hit-miss when drafting DT's.

By the way this is an extremely deep WR class. I like Mike Williams in the 3rd. He has great talent but some character concerns. Which means Smithiak wont be drafting him but the thought of Andre and Mike Williams at WR should scare the crap out of secondaries in our division.

Enough of my rant

Happy Thanksgiving

I dont think we get the comp. pick this draft. We will get it for the next draft. And it wont be a 3rd, probably a 5th.

I thought got it this year. That's why they have FA before the draft. So they can tell which rd the comp. picks go.

A 3rd rd pick is the most a team can get for losing a player in FA.

Dunta is one of the best CB's in FA this year. (which says something about years crop of FA CB's) so I believe the Texans will get a 3rd for losing Dunta.

I'm not sure which year they will get the comp. pick though.

I definitely could be wrong. I just thought it was the year after.

That's not a bad take.

Keep an eye on Trevard Lindley though. He will be a first rounder too I think. He is the best man coverage corner in this class.

I dont watch Kentucky football but I have read about Lindley and he appears to be a good CB.

From what I read he is a tall/thin CB that is more quick than fast.

Is he good in run support?

I will start paying more attention to Lindley this bowl season. Is Kentucky bowl elegible? (SP?)

He was going to be 1st/2nd round talent last year
