Wow, tried baseball, had cancer, lost his father, back to football, broke ankle, and now this...

This season went according to plan, and Reed was named All-American after helping to protect Graham Harrell and the prolific Red Raider offense. After inexplicably being left out of the NFL Scouting Combine, Reed put up the 225 pound bench press 44 times - a staggering amount and more reps than anyone did in Indianapolis. Yet as Reed crossed the finish line during his 40-yard dash, he tripped, falling to the turf and landing on his left knee. He spent an hour on the turf before being taken to the hospital for what looked to be a dislocated kneecap.

Here’s hoping that a team in the draft takes a chance on a 27-year-old that has battled more than his share of adversity, and that luck turns around for him.

Oh my God, 44 reps? My eyes litterally bugged out a little bit when I read that.. that is very, very beastly. Hard to imagine that guy wasn't invited to Indy. That is a very sad story though, I wish him the best..

Yeah, The guy was an All-American and he's not invited to the combine...... WTH?? I hope he can get healed and catch on with some team, some how.
 
Dang...I feel for the guy. Hopefully, he can heal and pursue football in the NFL if not maybe the UFL and then move up?

44 reps on 225-Lbs. Did better then Andre Smith, who ended up going MIA during the combine. Maybe he wasn't invited b/c the media didn't pay attention to him. Iv'e noticed in the past that players who hyped-up by ESPN, Rivals, SI, etc usually end up getting invited to the combine.

Is surgery ever needed for patellar subluxation or dislocation?

Some patients are not cured by conservative therapy, and it may be determined that surgery is needed, especially in patients who have significant pain or recurrent dislocation. By looking into the knee with an arthroscope, the surgeon can assess the mechanics of the knee joint to ascertain if there is an anatomic malalignment that could be corrected. One common malalignment is the result of too much lateral tension that pulls the kneecap out from its groove; this can place increased pressure on cartilage and lead to dislocation. For this problem, a procedure known as a lateral release can be performed. This procedure involves cutting the tight lateral ligaments to allow the patella to resume its normal position.
