The Green Bay Packers have just completed the steal of the draft (thus far).
After toying with the idea of taking Everette Brown in the first round, the Packers decided to go with DE Tyson Jackson because they felt that a quality pass rushing OLB would be available in the next round.
With the 41st overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft the Green Bay Packers select:
Aaron Maybin - OLB, Penn St
Athletically, Maybin is a top 25 talent. But he has fallen this far because of concerns that he does not have a true position. He may not be big enough to play DE in a 43 and he may not be able to cover well enough to play OLB in a 43 either.
So what do we do with him? We take his natural pass rushing skills and use him as a rush LB in a 34. He may be asked to play a little bit in coverage but his main responsibility will be to get to the QB, which he is very good at.
