Assuming that Orakpo, Brown, Raji, Jenkins, and Curry are all gone, and I think that's a pretty safe assumption, and there is no trade down available who do we pick at #15? I think it's a safe bet that we'll be going defense in the 1st round and offered 2 of each positon.

I'm warming up to Conner Barwin (DE) in the 2nd round. So, a stud CB makes the most sense to me. Although, MJ could come back to haunt me.

This is a tough call pre-combine. Voted Johnson because he has the size and could possibly have all the measureables we crave in a DE come draft day. Cushing is a close second and Davis is a distant 3rd for me.

Really Brown and Orakpo are the two guys who are slated for 3-4 OLB that I wouldn't mind the Texans taking a look at. Maybin scares me as a prospect because I don't think our scheme fits for him.

With all those guys being gone and Kubes being so high on Ginn a few years ago, I'd say Maclin from Mizzou is the sure pick

If that were the case I could see a few scenarios, mainly an attempt at a trade down to gain an extra 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rd. pick. However if we stay put I think you have to consider Cushing, Delmas, and Maybin (for OLB). So I picked Cushing. The reason I didn't put Davis here is I do not see how NO will let him get by them at #14 with their lack of adequate CB's.

I'm kinda liking Maclin as well over the guys available, that is if he's still there. Hopefully we could find one of the DEs in the 2nd round.

Given the choices i selected Johnson. It's very well that Sanchez could fall to us at and people will want to jump ahead of the Jets to grab him. Personally, I'm not too high on the kid but it's a pretty weak QB class and in the right system he could do alright. Other than Carson Palmer the QB coming out of USC, to me, are looking more and more like system QBs surrounded by great talent. If we could move a few spaces back, get a pick or two more, and address a need I'd be estatic.

Not sure how I feel about Maybin but if he continues to put on weight as reported by nfldraftbible.com he could rise up enough to justify taking him at 15. I'm not as much scared by weight as some guys. If we do take a DE in the first I just want a good history of getting to the QB.

I didn't add Maclin to the selection because that's the one position on the team that we actually have good quality player and depth, there's no need. Also the Texans were 3rd in offense and close to last on defense and with a new DC and assistants we will most assuredly be picking lots of defensive players in this draft.

DJ Moore? Do you think he'll be gone at 15, or just forget to add him? I have him fighting for the #2 corner spot with Alphonso Smith in my rankings. Right now I think Smith is the better corner, but Moore is an intriguing prospect with his ability to play CB, WR, and KR. He certainly has the ball skills, physical talent, and attitude you're looking for in a top corner.

NFL Draft Scout has him rated as the 20th best player in this class.

None of those safties would be worth a first rounder at all. Maybe if we traded down and were in the very back of the first round, but I would be ticked if we took any safety in the first round this year with what is currently available.

Of that whole list i'm only interested in Maybin, Cushing & Chung. Everyone's clamoring for a CB & DE, but are we gonna just forget about Antuwan Molden already? I'd much rather give him a shot 1st before we waist a 1st rounder on a CB that we may not need. As for DE, only 2 guy impress me enough to be worthy of the 1st pick & since both will likely be gone (Orakpo & Brown) by the time we pick we just need to default to BPA.

Plus this draft is gonna be loaded with play making LB's & though i like Adibi & Diles, they have health issues we've got to take into consideration.

You can never have enough good CB's.

I don't care what we think we have. If an elite CB falls, you take him and don't look back.

Right now we have a CB who is excellent against the run but only decent in coverage (Robinson), a CB who sticks to his man like glue but can't defend a pass to save his life (Reeves), a CB who suffered a soph slump last year (Bennett), a CB who pretty much sucks (Faggins), and a CB who is an unkown quantity (Molden).

That isn't exactly an all pro cast right there.

I agree here. I'd use the same logic describing our LB crew as well.

In the end, considering our needs at darn near every defensive position, we should take the best defensive player available. Unless of course, we trade back.

You don't need all pro players at every position back there U just need good safety play & pressure from the D-line.. that alone can instantly make all your CB's appear to be all pro.
#2:
Robinson- was coming back off a devastaing injury & was only about 85%.
Reeves- led the team in int's i believe & his play appeared to get better once we began to heat up opposing qb's.
Bennett- still a young player learning
Molden- didn't exactly look terrible in limited opportunites.
Faggins - no argument here, his time is up.

& also keep in mind that the brain trust behind our defensive scheme wasn't exactly on par with Lebeau & his revolutionary zone blitz scheme.

We can get a CB, but i think we should pick 1 up in the later rounds.

It'd be between Johnson and Davis for me. Cushing seems too injury prone to get selected 15th overall. I give the edge to Johnson, but I wouldn't be upset if we drafted Davis instead.

Kollar goes for the sub 250 high motor DEs from what we've seen thus far. I think Maybin would fit our scheme perfectly despite the weight issue (is it really THAT BIG of an issue?) and is BPA on that list.

We can agree to disagree, but besides QB the most important position on the field is CB.

We have only one CB that could start for most teams in the league and he is coming off injury.

I'm all for giving Bennett and Molden a shot, but they have to earn it. Just because they are young doesn't mean they get a free pass. I'm a believer in putting your best players on the field, and if we see a guy that would be an upgrade over them I expect us to go after him.

My ideal situation would be to take either Orakpo or trade back and take either D.J. Moore or Alphonso Smith. If we go Safety then take either Louis Delmas or Sean Smith.

Since whomever we pick in the 1st is likely to be a starter, This year i honestly don't care too much what area of the defense they play in, we need help on all levels & we can't reasonably justify taking 1 position over another; With that said we need the BPA & If it's a CB, so be it.

i just think that our younger guys back there need to be given a shot (that they've earned of course) before we pass up a LB or DE that would likely make more of an immediate impact on the defense as a starter than a CB would.
