Game Day thread - Miami and Houston

thats rediculous. Schaub could of easily had 6 INT's this game. That awsome AJ catch sved Schaubs job, for another week anyway.

You might be right but Schaub gave his playmaker a chance to make a play; as opposed to last week when the backup QB thought he was John Elway and tried to win the game.

LET IT OUT MATT....... SHOW THOWS FANS WHOO BOOED WHAT IS UP....

ALL MY EMOTIONS LET OUT i HAVE NO VOICE....... i MAY HAVE WET MYSELF,,,,THAT OR SPILLED MY DRINK ON MY LAP i CANT TELL ...OH MY FREAKING GOD IN HEAVEN i NEEDED THAT ONE. WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Damn, that was un-Texans like. Don't know how, don't know why, but hell its good to finally start our playoff drive!

You can say anything about the Texans, but its always damned entertaining!

Schaub had a good game. Interceptions are part of the game and he still moves the offense consistently. He threw for 379 yards with Brown getting punked by Porter all day.

Dan Marino needs to let his feelings for Miami go. On the postgame he said "Houston got away with one here." Everybody else was giving them their props, Marino looked pissed. :heh:

Funny to compare him with, say, Troy Aikman. Aikman goes so far out of way to try to not look like a homer that it sounds like he's rooting against the Cowboys.

That's funny. Jimmy Johnson was on the other channel and said he was watching "an exciting Texans win" and the other guys said in unison, "that's another network!" Jimmy might have been rubbing a little salt Miami's way...lol.

before we hurt ourselves patting each other on the back. This was an ugly win. I am more than happy that we won. But we diserved this one as much as Indy did last week. He have some serious issues still.

Could've sworn there was mini-helicopters pulling Schaub back in his TD run. (T-Mac commercial reference)

A win is a win. Last week was an good-looking loss. I'd take an ugly win anytime.

A win is a win. Lets take this momentum into next week and get another. I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty. Talk to the Baltimore Ravens. All they did in 2000 was win ugly all season--all the way to their superbowl win.

protect the ball and win more games please. thank you carry on

They made stops on third downs they had the chance to go ahead... they didnt and dolphins came back. 2-7 on third downs I think.

This game better be on nfl replay...after last week being shown three times

not really.. we were the better team again but nearly cost ourselves with atrocious mistakes...again

I don't agree. We SHOULD have routed Miami. Enjoy the win a little bit for crying out loud. I'm tired of the umbrella I've need for the entire season.

How do you figure that? With the exception of Indy's opening drive and their late fourth quarter drive to make it a ten-point game, the Texans dictated the game to the Colts, put pressure on Manning, and moved the ball at will.

Today the Texans marched down the field and converted two fourth downs on the way to the winning touchdown, after fumbling away what would've been a game-ending INT!

And you want to compare our win with Indy's last week? No way no how. We gave that game away. We took this one from Miami.

And they were all last-minute plays.
Mario's tipped 2-pt conv. pass, Kris's 57-yarder, Schwab's ruble up the middle on 4th and goal.

exactly...
the 'phins must hate Houston
they can't catch a break...
like us against Indy

Did not think about this until after the game, but we won the game despite being -3 in turnovers. Thats pretty damn insane! Turnovers usually determine the outcome of the game, but in this case we actually pulled the win from Miami. Also, we only gave up one sack (pr. NFL.com).

Not bad at all!

Just take a knee on the PAT. It's irrelevant.

I don't understand why we ran a play after the TD. I think it was a horrible call by Kubiak. We're up by 1 with the game all but won. An extra point gets us up by 2, a 2 pt conversion gets us up by 3. With 3 seconds left, miami doesn't have any time to do anything. the only way they can score is by kick off return or a hail mary/gadget play. Either way they would win the game.

The only way they would be able to kick a field goal is if we kicked it out of bounds and then committed multiple penalties over and over. But likelihood that Miami could block the extra point or return a fumble for 2 pts is FAR greater than this miracle field goal scenario.

Horrible and unnecessary call by shanny/kubiak.

Watch it! We won! No negatives here! You should be ecstatic! :foottap:

You need to revisit the NFL rulebook before you go bashing Kubiak for that call. The reason he went for the two-point conversion is two-fold-- a) if you make it, a FG won't beat you and 2) there is NO RISK!!

The PAT is an untimed down and cannot be returned for points.

This is really simple:

With the 2 seconds left and the Dolphins had the ball:

If they threw downfield, let's say to the 30, and there was a pass interference call, the Dolphins could have kicked a field goal since the game cannot end on a defensive penalty.

So we wanted a 3 point lead for this reason. Not likely, but a 1 point win versus a 2 point win doesn't really matter...

Good call in my opinion.

Exactly right, but I think ziggy and miss texan misunderstand the rule. There was no way for the Texans to simply take a knee and run out the clock. The down is untimed and the offense has to either kick the PAT or go for two. If you're up by one, of course you go for two.

I understand it's untimed but i was under the impression it can be returned for points. only its worth 2 points max.

that's a really good point and the easiest explanation. i forgot in the pros that a pass interference is at the spot of the foul. there would be no time left but miami would still have 1 play left. that's the most likely scenario. ;) gracias... it was a good call!
