2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
Hope you are right but ultimately it is still the same playbook and the same players executing those plays. The big difference I hope helps is OB was reported to come in and change everything up on Friday after the team had practiced all week. Hopefully without that they can execute the plays better.
I would have loved to have signed Bell last time he was a free agent but the price was to high. Now even at the vet minimum he just isn't worth it. If we have any hope at all of going anywhere this season I'd say yeah kick the tires but realistically we are playing to screw the fins over. We are already going to have cap issues with some hard choices to be made so why spend more money on a season that is more or less shot anyway? Save the cash and either resign play makers already here, whoever those are, or bring in someone that isn't on the down hill slope.
Hell why not just wait till we have a new HC and see what kind of team they want before bringing anyone in. Could be that while a power back was perfect for OB the new coach has no use for one. This isn't the time to be kicking the tires on any player this is the time to be shopping to see if we want a car, truck or SUV and then once thats decided go kick some tires.
Devlin is still here and still "coaching". I don't think any Oline can work as long as those two factors are against them.
1. Funny when you brought up OB changing his gameplan on Friday, this came to mind. OB was a coach for Belichick and during that time, he might've seen enough to make him nervous. In OB's mind....I'll just out smart the guy that was probably secretly taping my practices this week and change the gameplan on Friday. Confused the offense more than any defense.......were defenses ever confused or bewildered?
2. Bell would be cheap for the rest of this season. He'd also be a solid addition in the event either Johnson&Johnson were to go down. Signing him now would have little to no impact on their cap for the rest of this season.
3. The OL didn't look horrible on Sunday.....the first game without OB. This reminds me of how the change in offensive philosophy absolutely changed the way a far worse OL looked during Watson's first 6 games. This unit has far more talent and with a change in how the offense is handled....it could make a big difference going forward. The Titans on Sunday will be a good barometer as to the Week 2 growth.
