Why we have trouble finishing teams off

Simply put, we are historically losers. How do you fix this? You pick up guys who have historically been winners.

Guys from winning teams should be our targets in free agency this year, also we may want to lean more towards guys that play on winning collegiate teams in the draft. I think it may be the quickest way to cure what ails us (the inability to finish teams off)

I think we should definately take a hard look at Asante Samuel in FA. The New England Patriots are known for their ability to win the close games and i'd like him to bring some of that winning attitude to the Texans defense. Lance Briggs would be nice as well but im not gonna be TOO greedy, i'd be just as happy with Cato June (see the winning correlation here?) in the offseason.

On offense, same thing...winners. Guys that come from teams with a history of winning will be the piece of the puzzle that puts this team over the top imo :snobord:

That's part of it, but I don't think it is as simple as that. Right now we have negativity in the players and negativity in the coaches. We have some coaches that are screamers and demeaning to the players (according to posters who attended practices); we have players that have given up in the past and seem more interested in keeping a low profile and protecting their jobs rather than stepping up and being leaders.

Some of our coaches are good leaders. I'd put Kubiak in that group. Others aren't.

Capers and company seemed to squash any sign of a player stepping up and challenging them; I think that still carries over in this attitude of apathy.

We got a head coach that has winning in his blood. Dude has been to championships as a player and as a coach. It just takes time to build a 2-14 team around Kubiak's vision, and he has to weed through the players to find ones that adopt his winning attitude and can consistently implement his gameplans. Everything starts at the top and trickles down through leadership.
