Duggan should probably get some experience in the CFL, first. So could Max Duggan.
To add to the mystery of Young's height, I found this for those who have compared Young with Saban: it's reported Saban wears shoe inserts, maybe as tall as 3". This has been noticed when he stands next to other people such as 6'0" Rodger Goodell and when he stood next to 6'1" President Obama. So there IS an example of a midgit QB winning the SB !
Doing a little digging, I find 247Sports listing Young's college size as 5'11" and 197 lbs. They also list his high school size as 5'11" and 183 lbs.
I also found Rivals listing his high school size as 6'0" and 180 lbs.
For comparison, Wilson weighed in at the combine as 5'10 5/8" and 204 lbs.
So, looking forward to the combine.
Tagged for reference.What odds?
There hasn't been a short QB 5'11 or shorter rated highly because they're not good, not because they're short.
I'm not saying I want Young, but the fact that he's rated highly is because he's better than any short QB that came before him.
I'm still digging, but so far I think he passed many tests.
He doesn't get many batted passes.
He seems to be able to maneuver around to find a passing lane.
He's a player.
For the next round, I will try to look as to whether he's able to throw muddy or how he might be able to get around those situations by moving around the pocket (like Brees).
I've been watching Caleb Williams' tape too, and I don't like what I saw in the two games against Utah.
Caleb is still a great prospect; I'm not sure I can say he's better than the prospects in this current class.
Lincoln Riley matters.
The guys around Caleb matter, too.
I'm watching Maye's tape at the moment.
I like him less at the moment with the current string of losses.
He's still young and though and I hope to see some growth next year.
But no, right now, he's not better than some of the prospects this year.
Duggan should probably get some experience in the CFL, first.
from last Friday:To add to the mystery of Young's height, I found this for those who have compared Young with Saban: it's reported Saban wears shoe inserts, maybe as tall as 3". So, for that photo of Young and Saban posted here, Young very well could be in the range of 5'11" to 6'0".

Think we can get a good deal with the Spurs?Carter #1 overall?? Wouldn't it make more sense to trade down to another lottery team that wants to reach on a QB and get an extra 2/3 and still pick in the top 10?
I’d be on board with this as long as Caserio revamps the entire front 7, hits on a good WR, and another good RB to pair with Pierce.Davis Mills for 1 more year, and then draft Williams #1 the following year.
And then they'd no longer be in a position to draft WilliamsI’d be on board with this as long as Caserio revamps the entire front 7, hits on a good WR, and another good RB to pair with Pierce.

I would be on board with Lincoln Riley as HC. I think he could be successful in the NFL.Williams is not ************* and Lincoln Riley offense translates better in the nfl than Dabo
If Caserio does what Mangler suggested, they would have to openly embrace the tank and even then it would be difficult to match the current teamDon’t doubt the power of Mills, Pep, and Lovie.
Plus - rookies going to do rookie things.
You have to think like a Texan when it comes to the QB situation. Answer the most important question - Who would look best in a terrible HEB commercial?

Cool.If all things remain the same, Bryce Young will be the next QB of the Houston Texans
For 1.1 pretty good, Carr, Williams and Clowney. While this is who I thought the Texans would draft I didn't necessarily agree with Carr and Clowney. I preferred Peppers over Carr, and Clowney was a no brainer since he came from Daddy McNair's alma mater, I believed Spurrier's comments concerning Clowney. Daddy McNair was enamoured with Carr and couldn't wait to dress him up and take him to all the Houston Gala Balls.Cool.
Say, how’s your track record predicting what the Texans will do?
Unfortunately you will probably be correct. If all things remain the same, Bryce Young will be the next QB of the Houston Texans
If all things remain the same, Bryce Young will be the next QB of the Houston Texans
My sources tell me that HEB, a vehicle company, and a fast food company will sign him after the draft.Well Young is already practiced with the Texas based Dr. Pepper.
Having missed with a QB and a Edge rusher, Houston goes RB Bijan Robinson 1.1That would be anti-Texans. They usually find a way to NOT pick the most widely known player and be uninteresting at the same time.
Maybe Bryce Young with Herndon Hendon round 2 and let our vet Davis Mills coach them up?well if pip and lovie are staying then i say draft two rookie qbs in the draft if the 2nd one falls 2 us ...and play both of them LOL u wanna upgrade the offensive how about getting to brand new good Point guards
if not ill take tom brady just to get the tickets sales up and buzz and besides i wanna see the GOAT qb in a texans uniform even if he sucks LOL
I doubt Caserio drafts Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. I can see him going after a vet QB while revamping the offensive line and front seven, then going after one of the highest rated QBs after the 2023 season. It’s not like Pep is going to ruin draft position due to his oh so great coaching.Unfortunately you will probably be correct.
The McNair's going for the money over substance.
I wouldn’t mind Caserio trading for/signing Minshew this off-season as long as he drafts one of the best QBs after the 2023 season. Minshew can ball, allowing the rookie QB to sit back and learn.I will be watching Minshew in the Dallas game.
Might be a solution as a bridge.
Don't ask to be the Browns.I doubt Caserio drafts Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. How is that asking to be the Browns?Don't ask to be the Browns.
Keep getting the draft position. How is that asking to be the Browns?
Where is splash in that?I doubt Caserio drafts Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. I think I'd prefer Mike White but yeahWatching Minshew throw the rock all around the field against the Cowboys. He’s a marginal talent with great coaching. Not sure he’d prosper in Houston with the current coaching, but I like the guy.
All things are in the process of changing. If all things remain the same, Bryce Young will be the next QB of the Houston Texans
I think Bryce young will not be a good nfl QB. He’s way too small. Hard pass for meAll things are in the process of changing.
He'll be gone by the time Texans pick. Let's see what Combine says....I think Bryce young will not be a good nfl QB. He’s way too small. Hard pass for me
I have not looked close enough to have a long list of QBs, but here are a few that come to mind…
Baker Mayfield: With the Panthers releasing Baker Mayfield, it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Texans to sign him to a team friendly deal.
Gardner Minshew: His $2,540,000 salary isn’t bad at all and the guy has shown to be a competent QB. He may not be franchise material but I think he could be better than prime Schaub, and that would be a very good thing. Would the Eagles accept a 5th and a 6th rd pick?
Jimmy G: I know some posters here want absolutely nothing to do with Jimmy G, but I honestly feel that he’s a way better QB than Trey Lance will ever be. Jimmy G (barring injury) would have more than likely won those close games for us this season. Not saying Jimmy G would get us to the promise land, but he’s be a good mentor for our future franchise QB to sit behind and learn.
Jacoby Brissett: The Browns will more than likely not be able to keep him due to Derapist’s ridiculous contract, so he’ll probably hit the free agent market once this season ends. While not my first choice, he’s a somewhat capable QB.
What say you?
Baker will fit in with the other NFL rejects we have on roster. Might as well give him free $ also.
I have this feeling as well. If he was just short, then that's not necessarily a deal breaker. But he doesn't have a stocky lower half like Russell Wilson does and I think this is a recipe for injury at the next level for a guy who will have to make a bunch of plays out of the pocket to be effective in the pros. Even Kyer Murray has a noticeably thicker lower half. There's no guarantee Young will remain a fast-twitch athlete if he bulks up 15 pounds. Could be wrong here... His combine performance is a must-watch for me before making any determinations.I think Bryce young will not be a good nfl QB. He’s way too small. Hard pass for me
Couldn’t agree more! My stance remains the same; pass on drafting a QB in the first round.I have this feeling as well. If he was just short, then that's not necessarily a deal breaker. Do you want a QB that is never quite good enough?Couldn’t agree more! My stance remains the same; pass on drafting a QB in the first round.

If you don't want this, then don't draft a QB in this draft.Do you want a QB that is never quite good enough?
Me too. But no one knows how it will look next year at this time. Will we be saying wait until 2025?I agree with this on the 2023 draft, but not the 2024 draft where there seems to be a better choice. At least so far. But as we all have learned, whatever we think the Texans should do will not be what they actually do.
If the Texans pass on a QB this year, will you be saying the same thing next year? The year after? If you don't want this, then don't draft a QB in this draft.
NopeIf the Texans pass on a QB this year, will you be saying the same thing next year? The year after?
