I heard a noise and so I went behind it and saw The Houston Texans whipping the snot out of the colts.
Seriously I was happy to see us not only win this game but pretty much take control from the beginning to the end. I liked seeing our teams mental fortitude throughout the game, especially in the 2nd half.
This wasn't one of Matt Schaub's better statisitic days but you can tell he was just happy for the win. I'm looking for him to "bounce back" next week. I know this is going to sound weird but I was kind of happy he threw the pick. I felt that if we went up 16-0 or 20-0, we would've been preparing for another epic Houston record day of come from behind defeat. I think it kept our defense in the game and I think it made Kubiak figure another way to win.
Which by the way. Kudos to Kubes because he looked like he had this team prepared to win.
Arian Foster was tremendous. My favorite play he made was when he didn't get the first down on 3rd and 2. He noticed he didn't convert, and then looked at Kubes and pointed forward as to say "hey, I can get the first down." Other than Andre and Matt Schaub two years ago against Miami, I don't recall a player ever putting the team on their shoulders and willing us to victory like Arian displayed at that moment. Then he converts the 3rd down and then punches it in himself. He actually allowed for Schaub to only throw 3 times in the 2nd half.
On defense, this is the first game save for the Denver Thurs night game in 07 that I felt Mario played like the DE he is capable of being.
Bernard Pollard let me know vocally that he plays the game the way I feel during game day. I will say he didn't do a great job in coverage today but I'm sure he will see that and make it happen next week. He did help cause the turnover so I will lay off but while I'm at it....I hate seeing the replay because it looks as if he began celebrating too early when he should've beenn looking to block because Quin had a pretty good lane after he recovered the ball.
I also want to say that Kubiak showed up to this game. I don't know what was said at halftime but to see us come out and run the ball 9 straight times, 10 overall, for a total of 49 yards was sending a message to not only the colts but even to our team - we are going to be a physical team. I also liked how he didn't take his foot off the pedal that was working for us. He just kept running it down their throats even when everybody knew we were going to run it. Imagine what can happen if Slaton gets his head out of his butt and Derrick Ward can grasp the offense.
I'm bumbed about Barwin because we looked exotic when he was in on D. However for us to continue getting the pressure even with him gone was phenomenal. I can't wait to see what happens when Cushing comes back!!!!!!
