The Texans placed running back Darius Walker on waivers today and activated running back Ryan Moats from the practice squad. Walker was active for five of the six games this season but didn't get a carry playing behind Steve Slaton and Chris Taylor and later Slaton and Ahman Green.
Moats, 5-8, 215, was signed to the practice squad on Oct. 7. After Andre Davis underwent finger surgery this week, coach Gary Kubiak mentioned Moats as a candidate for kickoff returns. As it stands now, Jacoby Jones will be the primary kickoff returner.
The Dallas native Moats, played at Louisiana Tech and was drafted in the third round by Philadelphia in 2005. He was a reserved with the Eagles for two seasons. He missed last season with a broken ankle.
Moats, 25, was waived by the Eagles in August. He was signed to Arizona's practice squad and released by the Cardinals on Oct. 1. He was a good special teams players for the Eagles who returned a few kickoffs.
