Did not Phillips just get fired?By the way, I love Romeo Crennell and don't think the game's passed him by. He's 70, but so is Wade Phillips, and Wade just coordinated a very successful and difficult 2019 season for the Rams.
Is Bienemy calling plays or is he just Reid's hey boy?
He also re-signed player-coach Jonathan Joseph, despite a need for speed, and he became an injury liability this season. And he gave nick Martin $11 a year and Whitney mercilus $14.1 a year for being high character guys. That makes me want to absolutely vomit knowing he’s leading us into the offseason
Yes, they did not renew his contract despite, I believe, this LA defense having the least points allowed in the 3 years. And they had injuries and lost Talib and had to incorporate Jalen Ramsey in the middle of the season. I'm sure it was a money thing like Elway in Denver. He and Von Miller won the Super Bowl for Kubiak and broken-down Manning, but Elway then didn't want to pay him. Then he got LA to the Super Bowl before the offense lost it, now LA doesn't want to pay him.Did not Phillips just get fired?
Not even Bills mom can defend him now.Or Bill's mom.
Joshy duck that elbow and come on down to HoustonBill's mom: "now, honey, you tried real hard, but it's time to come back up north. And don't tell me this is 'relative to' anything but losing big games. Other Bill & Screaming Tommy may retire soon, so maybe you can elbow Joshy out of the way and grab the leftovers."
Hush. She can hear you.Not even Bills mom can defend him now.
At this point Id trade OB for a Casio and McDonalds.Swap O'Brien for Caserio and McDaniels?
PeoiliInstead of looking at potential replacement head coaches, what potential GMs are out there, besides Caserio, who would then hire a head coach? Actually, Cal could force a new GM on O'Brien and then let them decide.
And Bring Caserio with him.I want Josh McDaniels. I know that won't be popular, but he'll win with Watson. He's the one designing plays to get Rex Burkhead open
Is Bienemy calling plays or is he just Reid's hey boy?
Honestly, I think cal is scared of the guy.
I voted yes. With a few exceptions. The strength and conditioning coaches, trainers, doctors, physical therapists and dietitians get a pass as most of the team was in relatively good health most of the season.
There are 4 coaches that I would keep that are not included in those that have to deal with the health of the team.
First, the Special Teams coordinator Brad Seely. He did a great job with Special Teams the last 2 years and actually made the Special Teams groups a strength. He's a great addition to the coaching staff (pretty much the only one). He should definitely stay. He can keep Tracy Smith as his assistant since they did such a great job together.
Second, the Quarterbacks coach, Carl Smith. His influence on Deshaun Watson was noticeable very quickly. Actually, I believe he would better serve as the Offensive Coordinator. He's a very smart, good coach that can taper the offense to his players and play to his unit's strengths. Something those over him have no idea how to do. He should be hired and allowed to stay.
Third, Defensive Line coach Anthony Weaver. The defensive line is the strength of the defense. Even without JJ it was still good. Weaver is good at coaching great technique and discipline. He is a keeper looking at how well the defensive line has played since he has been here over the last 3 years.
Forth, Running backs coach, Danny Barrett. In his 2 years here, he has done a great job with the talent he has had. Miller and Hyde both ran for over 1000 yards in the last 2 seasons under him. He took average running backs and made them both above average. He is one to keep on staff considering how bad the offensive line play has been since he has been here and yet the running backs are still able to produce under his guidance.
All others should be fired immediately.
Starting with the Head Coach Bill O'Brien. He has never gotten the position. He still can't manage time outs, situations, when to be aggressive and when to lay off a bit. He just doesn't get it and he won't let anyone else handle those very important responsibilities because he "doesn't trust" them to do it. He will never be better the a 9-7 or 10-5 coach with the potential to throw a 4-12 season in there. Most importantly, he'll never take this team past the Divisional round of the playoffs no matter who he has throwing the ball. He has got to go!
Second, the Defensive Coordinator, Romeo Crennel. He was a great coach in his time, however, the game has far passed him by. With the changes every year in the game with how quarterbacks are running teams now, Romeo just can't catch up to the mobile quarterback and how to stop him. Another hole in his defense is the tight end position. He just can't defend against a good tight end or even a good short passing game for that matter. His secondaries are always soft and playing off the receivers. He refuses to play an aggressive defense because he seems to be afraid to give up the big play, and yet that's exactly what happens. His defense always gives up the big play. It's definitely time for him to retire.
Third, the Offensive Coordinator, Tim Kelly. Well, actually, he's no offensive coordinator. He is simply a Bill O'Brien lacky. He has no business coaching, much less being a coordinator. He wasn't good as the Tight Ends coach and he's no good as Offensive Coordinator. Time for him to exit.
Forth, the Secondary coach, Anthony Midget. Does this really need to be explained? Even with some really good talent, he can't teach the secondary how to be disciplined and stay in their lanes and how to properly blanket their guy. They couldn't stop any passing attack, no matter how anemic, all year. They made rookie recievers and average guys look like all pros. He definitely needs to go.
Fifth, the Offensive Line coach, Mike Devlin. He's just possibly the worst coach on the staff. Even with Tunsil and 2 studs from the draft, He couldn't get it done. The offensive line was just as bad as it was last year. In 6 years since he's been here, the offensive line play has gotten progressively worse year to year. I said it before that he could take the best Pro-bowl All Pro linemen and turn them into hot garbage. That's exactly what he did with Laremy Tunsil. The guy was a phenom in Miami. He comes here and he's the most penalized lineman in the NFL. That's ridiculous. Here's why. Devlin doesn't know how to coach. He can't teach discipline, technique, foot work, hand play, leverage or any other aspect of blocking. Watson has to run for his life constantly. He's the most sacked quarterback in the league. That has got to stop. Devlin should be picked up by the rough of his neck and the seat of his pants and thrown as far away from the football world as is super-humanly possible. He should never be allowed to coach again. He's one that must be gone.
Finally, all the rest of the position coaches on both sides of the ball. They should all go because each position has major flaws that come down to poor coaching. It's mostly from the head coach, but it has filtered down into the rest of the coaching staff and other then the few mentioned above, they should all go.
That's my thought. Not that it matters because Cal has to pull the trigger in firing everyone. We all know that's not going to happen though, so get ready for another fruitless season.
GO TEXANS!!!
That's ok just as long as the rest are thrown out. But you never know, after interviewing some, the new coach may decide to keep some of the best coaches on his staff. They do it all the time as well as bringing in their own staff.Agreed with this 100% but if we fire both OB and RAC, those guys are gone too. The new GM will hire whoever the next HC wants. IMO
You know who else isn't a bad coach, but similar to what you described? Marvin Lewis. Also, I want to point out that BOB is not a bad head coach. People are going overboard with the hate because of the results here (and the last few years), but really, he does a good job of keeping the team in games against bad teams and average competition. He can't get over the hump of the elite teams and will only be an above average coach/team at best. I think he is already at his ceiling, which is why I don't want to keep him.
Being slightly above average is not the worst thing in the world, it's what Kubiak did for years in Houston and gave people hope, it's basically what Jeff Fisher was for his career, but it's not going to get you a ring. I'm sure if BOB is back next year, we win 9-10 games, go to the playoffs and get beat by a better coached team. Maybe that's all ownership needs to be happy, but as fans, we know that's not the goal. I'd rather see them hire a new GM and coaching staff, and rework the talent we have here by changing the playbook and scheme, but I doubt that will happen because they could just as easily hire someone worse than BOB.
Honestly, the worst thing about this KC loss is that they basically gave us 2 Touchdowns, which makes the score look not so bad. 51-17 looks a lot worse than 51-31. People may forget that KC screwed up on those and gloss over the real disparity between these two teams.
Not that you all need it, but here's confirmation from an outside source more objective than my emotional fan self that O'Brien's self-destructive decision making was the spark for the Kansas City Chiefs...
Bill O'Brien explains thinking behind FG call, fake punt
For a quarter, it looked as if this would be the weekend of stunning playoff upsets. Two fateful decisions made in Kansas City by Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien ensured that would not be the case.www.nfl.com
My main argument against this article is this: Assume we go for it on 4th down and score a TD on that drive. Also, assume we punt the ball on that 4th down. So what? We just scored 4 more points. We lost by 20. Don't get me wrong, I want BOB gone as much as anyone but this game was not on him in my opinion. Players have to execute! (And maybe that is on the HC)
What if Mister McNair has already decided to fire Billy and is waiting to make the announcement because the man he visualizes as the next HC is still involved in the playoffs?
The KC's OC?What if Mister McNair has already decided to fire Billy and is waiting to make the announcement because the man he visualizes as the next HC is still involved in the playoffs?
The KC's OC?
One can hope!
I want Josh McDaniels. I know that won't be popular, but he'll win with Watson. He's the one designing plays to get Rex Burkhead open
remember when O’Brien did the same thing? i’m tired of being South team of some other team. First it was a Broncos then the patriots, screw all that I want our own identity.
Maybe we can get TB for qb coach. lolSimple answer to question......YES!!!!!!! Hire Eliot Wolf as the new GM......Tony Romo as the new HC......and for shites and giggles, Peyton Manning as the OC. It'd at least be an entertaining sideline.
What if Mister McNair has already decided to fire Billy and is waiting to make the announcement because the man he visualizes as the next HC is still involved in the playoffs?
Do you know how extremely hard that is for a football state. We live, eat and toilet drop football in this city and state. We spend millions on high school stadiums. And you’re suggesting us to completely stop supporting. Especially after the way we lost the Oilers back in the days.
Come on man!!!!
Not happening!!!
Agreed with this 100% but if we fire both OB and RAC, those guys are gone too. The new GM will hire whoever the next HC wants. IMO
LOL!!! That is seriously good right there. Did you make that up or see it somewhere? The Texans should change their name to the Houston Tootsie Pops.
Fans: "Mr Cal, how many embarrassing playoff losses does it take to get rid of the chin?"
Mr Cal: "Lets find out... "
My mind is a scary place.LOL!!! That is seriously good right there. Did you make that up or see it somewhere?
Maybe but then Dallas is keeping their OC so stranger things have happened.
Well, you are definitely in the running for funniest post of the year! Awesome! My mind is a scary place.
I was just bored at work and that old commercial popped into my head.
