But, you do admit that Culley never mentioned a 3 year plan, or any plan for the team going forward? Right?Just an assumption based on a realistic goal.

Wade in now...His first deal was HCCaserio hasn't been here long enough to make a tough decision....it's coming though. I'll wade in a little more based on how he handles his first real decision.
What are you talking about? Caserio has had plenty of tough decisions already. Does he come in and clean house of a dysfunctional organization? Does he hire an innovative leader as a head coach? Does he immediately reach out to the franchise QB to mend the relationship between "the player" and the organization?Caserio hasn't been here long enough to make a tough decision...
Not here. Not a leader of men. Frankly, I see him as a 2nd fiddle personnel guy who needs a Belichick to show him the way.

Caserio has done none of that. He has a $30 million contract that could be used to bludgeon everyone in the organization. And push Kyle back into his office, unseen and unheard. By not making the tough decisions, Caserio has shown he's going to be part of the problem.
I'm not sure anyone had a worse 1st RD pick in 2020 than Robinson. Dimitroff was fired for his at best C grade as ATL GM.I'm waiting to see how he does in a couple of drafts before I even start to pass judgement. Truth is nobody knows if he will be a good GM. I assume that you looked at Robinson/Dimitroff the same way you look at Caserio and they've done a solid job.

Perhaps but to be fair, Miami was first team Watson and not others identified as being his choice to go to. I still think New York is his End destination but I would not be shocked if it was the Dolphins. Give me Zach Wilson at 1.3 + X Howard coming to Houston and I would gladly trade Watson to Miami. I would love Q but X marks the spot for me. The 2022 draft picks would be better from the Jets in my opinion but I am focused on players in this draft. Is he though?
The NYJ's have sucked for yrs.
This is why I say DW4 wanting to be traded is more about money than winning. Otherwise he should want to go to another team with a minority GM/HC, (Racist if you ask me) the Redskins would be the team he should want to be traded to if winning a championship was his burning desire. Good riddance
I recall seeing posts here in this message board that Easterby was following or Others under his instructions were following Texans football players. This was the first I've heard about easterby texting Anyone's mother. You would only have to follow all of the media in Houston and read their tweets. I have seen it several times. But no I have not seen the actual tweets that Jack sent
I'm guessing you won't last a couple of years, you'll be off SKELETORS train by the end of the year. My initial take from the press conference is Caserio's personality is much along the lines of Bill O'Brien's. I think he too got an F in congeniality and recieved a teachers comment of, Doesn't get along well with others. Caserio looked like he didn't want to be there, was uncomfortable and doesn't like being around the press.I'm going to wait a couple of yrs before I start passing judgement on Caserio.
The Texans promoted someone who was under qualified (Jack Easterby) because of his faith and the value that the McNair family places on faith. You can ABSOLUTELY argue that this is untrue. But what you cannot argue is that they left the door open for that to be the PERCEPTION. The timing of when this under qualified person took a more prominent role coincides perfectly to when the Texans began making remarkably stupid trades that pissed most of us off. You can argue that this was a coincidence, but if you're honest, you have to respect those who believe that Easterby played a role in the stupidity occurring within the organization which perfectly coincided with his rise to power. When BOB was fired, the McNairs had the opportunity to get a clean slate. But they chose to keep Easterby. Maybe you think there were valid reasons, but again, you cannot deny that the PERCEPTION for why they kept Easterby was because of his faith. Since that time, we have hired people that many/most believe are under qualified. It may be a coincidence that they all happen to be Christians (please don't tell me you think it was a coincidence), but again, you cannot deny that they have created the PERCEPTION that the reason these people were hired was because of their faith. And if you want to argue that they didn't open the door to being PERCEIVED this way, then why in the hell is everyone talking about it? Of course they did.
So, they have at a minimum given the PERCEPTION that they made disappointing decision after disappointing decision because of their faith, and you're going to get upset when fans take a swipe at that faith? The McNairs are the ones that made Christianity an issue with this team, not those expressing their feelings about how this has let them down. And BTW, I'm talking as a Christian. I'm in the same boat as the McNairs as far as valuing faith over everything else. But I've been around Christianity long enough to know that Christians have different interpretations of how to live that out. Tony Dungy got into this controversy awhile back. I don't remember all the details but I remember listening to him on the Dan Patrick show explaining how someone had completely misrepresented what he said about favoring Christians and he had to explain that as a Christian coach, he had a duty to put the best product on the field, regardless of if that person was a Muslim, atheist or whatever their beliefs were. The McNairs have mistakingly not taken that approach. They're putting under qualified people in positions they don't deserve because of their faith (please don't make me say it again that if you disagree with this, that you can't disagree with the PERCEPTION that this is true) and it has opened them and Christianity to ridicule because of their misapplication of it.
And BTW, by far the majority of the ridicule on this message board has been good natured with intended humor. Exaggeration is in bounds for humor purposes. Some people are haters but haters gonna hate. If you have a problem with that, direct your frustration at the McNairs for making this topic relevant.
I HATE long posts. Super sorry it was this long, but I couldn't think of a shorter way to say it and felt it all needed to be said.
No offense. But, you actually expect a guy with zero OC or HC experience to have some type of offensive/defensive philosophy? Bless your heart. I’m not bashing the man, as he comes off as a genuine with good people skills and good attitude. But, being an NFL is nothing you can just wing. I hope he knows what he’s doing!
To summarize your post: 1) Easterby may or may not be overqualified; 2) Caserio at least looks like a GM and he was their guy all along, disregard the committee's, the Korn Ferry group and all the other stuff that went on; 3) It's steelbtexan fault that many people in Houston have the perception the Texans brass often choose high character players while ignoring those that may be better football players but have checkered pasts; 4) Culley might be a good coach. You can’t control people perception and you can’t stop the door from being opened on a perception because once those people have made up their mind anything you do will be spun to match that.
You say Easterby was under qualified and maybe he was but no one knows because everyone in NE has nothing but good things to say about him. When he was promoted there was a major vacuum because OB held so much power and not a lot of bodies to fill that vacuum. Since then the Texans have gone out of their way to say Easterby is not and has not made decisions but that part gets ignored or not believed so what else can they do? Fire Easterby maybe but for all we know he’s a good employee and does a good job, so what they should fire him for PERCEPTION that is in no way under his control? If this was anything other than a sports team would anyone agree that is the right thing to do?
Caserio is, on paper at least, one of the most qualified first time GMs to come along in a long time and it’s only this board that is saying he’s unqualified. Same with Cully yeah he’s an old first time HC but have you heard one person with real knowledge say one bad thing about him? Reid, Harbaugh and lots of players seem to think this is a good hire. Yes he’s not the media darling EB is but again let’s not forget no one has hired EB in 3 years so why is it we say only the Texans made a mistake in not hiring him?
I blame @steelbtexan for pushing this McNair “not Texans worthy” line when NO MCNAIR ANYWHERE EVER ONCE SAID THAT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT! That was Schaub talking about Suh, who had just kicked him in the groin, but because it had been repeated so many times on this board it’s now believed.
I agree faith might have played a part in the hirings but I don’t agree that it was the deciding factor. They chased Caserio for 3 years, before Easterby, before Bob died Caserio was in line to be the Texans GM.
They searched longer than any team for their next HC and had it down to three. Everyone thought it was between EB and Frazier but Culley’s name was in there to. It was only this board and the media that wrote him off, Texans never eliminated him from the running.
I have noticed there have been a lot more attacks on Christians, “chaplains” and religion in general around here. People can say it’s a joke all they want but that excuse doesn’t work if they were to post something racist or homophobic or political or anything like that so not sure why it’s allowed when posting about religion.
I doubt Caserio took this job if he was only going to have the GM title minus the power/control. I see the coaching staff coming along and I’m getting somewhat antsy, waiting to see who he will hire as the offensive line coach. Looks like he’s setting something up for whoever we have at QB moving forward.meh......the Texans are what they are, a mismanaged NFL franchise. And that isn't changing anytime soon. What we can hope for is they accidently get it right.

Can you tell me what your main point is? Is it this-
If so, I'm not buying it.
Im going to give Caserio and company a chance, but at this point it feels a bit too much like hoping in one hand............... deficating in the other.I doubt Caserio took this job if he was only going to have the GM title minus the power/control. Bill O'Brien has a better personality than Nick Caserio.I wasn’t impressed. Seemed very bland. Cal’s opening statements was like watching paint dry. Very few questions from media, and a question from a season ticket holder? Seemed like an Easterby production. Quick Q and A before it gets controversial.
I continue to be impressed with Caserio. I’ll be giddy when Easterby is finally gone.
No, YOU SUCK!!Bill O'Brien has a better personality than Nick Caserio.
I don't know where the idea that BO'b was a micro-manager came from, I never got that. I don't think he knew how to teach, how to teach his teachers to teach, & after Jj's comments, I don't think he did much of anything to get the bare minimum out of his guys, much less their best.when you have Guys who seemingly will let the guys underneath them do their jobs, not micromanage them to death.....good things can happen.

I understand coach speak & all coaches do it. But after 5 years of "we have to coach better." I'd think we'd have seen new coaches rising up in the organization.
Ok, so micromanage means something else to you guys.the idea comes from him snatching playcalling duties from guys he himself designated as OC’s...which is what he did with George Godsey several times. It comes from letting those guys come up with game plans and then changing those game plans radically at the 11th hour..like he was rumored to have done several times with Tim Kelly in 2019.

Jim was a head coach at Stanford and very successful one at that. Why the 49ers hired him.The Harbaugh brothers say hi.

The one line that stood out to me when Caserio says they have no intention of trading the "player" instead of referring to Deshaun as our Texan's quarterback or just by name, tells me Caserio and DW4 will never see eye to eye, kind of cold and odd.
I thought he was trying to sound like Belichick. Even the teeth sucking. Not touching on the issue of Watson at all , just the cold part ....
That's what you want out of a GM , cold and calculated .... no empathy , every decision made with a singular purpose. Winning.
