That article is ridiculous. VY was a part of the win, yes, but he didn't look great out there. In fact, except for his 1 long run and his 1 TD throw, he looked pretty awful. He looked rushed in the pocket and wasn't throwing accurate passes. The Texans beat themselves, plain and simple
if you strip off all the names on the players and you evaluate the day the titans qb had, it was below the nfl qb average. he's a rook and will continue to improve, but today he wasn't anything special.
True...but VY also wasn't the one that looked like a rookie QB today.
I disagree. BOTH Carr and VY looked like rookie QB's today. And Carr looked like the rookie that was further along and better at reading defenses.
Too bad Carr's not a rookie.
Justice is romanticizing the attitude that VY brings to a team. That is all. I am a huge VY guy but now that he is on the Titans, he is enemy mine. When Mario dragged him down it was the best moment of the game.
However, anyone who says he didn't show anything today, is totally fooling themselves. The guy just wins football games. Period. End of story. Been that way since Pop Warner. That scramble for a touchdown was top drawer and he showed much promise in his passing game when he was given protection. Dude just has 'It'...its that easy. It's rough when I think about facing Manning and Young 2 times each every year for the next decade. Thank god Leftwich looks like he is a bust or we would be totally hosed.
I thought VY would struggle his first few years but he already looks to be grasping things game by game. He has far surpassed most realistic expectations for him in his first few games. Justice just takes it to another level in his fanboy love of VY. To Richard Justice, VY is like Jim Brown, John Wayne and Chuck Connor all rolled into one. Infallible. Invincible. I think the guy could develop into a top5 QB under the right system but I dont write sonnets in the Chronicle stating my undying love for him. We all leave that to Justice.
