I BLEED TEXANS!
Texans | Walter battling for No. 3 WR spot
Mon, 12 Jun 2006 15:08:02 -0700

Carmine Pirone, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans WR Kevin Walter could slide into the depth chart as the team's third wide receiver. "I'm trying to strive to be the best receiver I can possibly be," said Walter. "I can only control how hard I work and I'm going to work hard and whatever that place is on the depth chart, that's their (the coaches) decision."

Texans | Bennett in the mix?
Mon, 12 Jun 2006 15:06:57 -0700

Carmine Pirone, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he has talked about acquiring a veteran running back. Kubiak said he has talked to the New Orleans Saints about RB Michael Bennett, but it remains to be seen if the Texans will inquire about acquiring him. "We've talked to them over and over again," said Kubiak. "To my understanding, he's basically been their starting back over the offseason because (RB) Reggie (Bush) has missed some time and I don't even think (RB) Deuce (McAllister) has worked so their not just going to let their starting running back go at this point."

Texans | Kubiak looking for leaders
Mon, 12 Jun 2006 15:06:57 -0700

Carmine Pirone, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak hopes to find some veteran leaders by the time training camp starts. "There are guys that have been here for a long time that people just look to when times are tough and we'll find those people," said Kubiak. "We'll establish those people in training camp. I feel good about that."

Glad to see that it wasn't just handed to him. Him and Armstrong are going to have a good battle.

I would be the happiest person in the world if we got Bennett. He could do a lot for us and make our running game more diverse.

I like Kubes. We do need our leaders. Eric Moulds and Jameel Cook seem to be providing that on offense. I'm sure we'll see someone become our leader on defense. That's one part we didn't really have last year and it really showed how much we need our leadership.

That makes sense. You're probably right about there being some leadership already evident on offense. I hope it's in the right place.

He's probably talking about defense when he talks about finding the leaders in training camp. The defense is "redesigned and reoutfitted." They probably haven't seen enough yet to really know where that leadership will come from....yet.
