Texans cut WR Kenny Stills!

.......uhmmmmm, that would be three, ducking chin hole got himself hung as well. LOL!!!! Japanese samurai warriors called it "hara kari"....death for failure.

BOB didn't get anybody fired. RS incompetence is why he cant get another job in the NFL. He should've been fired with Kubiak. Gaine was fired for HR reasons. (Nothing to do with BOB) But you're right I would've fired BOB when RS was let go and started over with a clean slate. Kind of what I hope happens now. I hope the new GM can talk Cal into doing away with the boardroom style of Mgmt. Do I actually think this will happen? Not a chance in haedes.

So 2 HC's fired in 5 yrs wouldn't be called a HC killer in your books?

Are you literally trying to tell the message board members that both of those coaches were so good that they should've been retained at all coast? Me.....both of those duckers were suicidal and should've been shown the door 2 years in. The last one ducking killed everything in his path. I call him the organization and player killer....what would you call him?

The 2nd coach he’s talking about hasn’t been hired yet.

We haven't even gotten to the 2nd HC yet so I'm not sure what this post is even about.

So Rick Smith incompetence got him fired. But Watson got O’Brien fired.

Mods you guys have to understand why it may seem some members will attack that type of post.

Nope, the fact that BOB/DW4 were oil/water meant it was never going to work. BOB should've been fired after 51-7.

I dont understand what you're whining to the mods about.

Nobody but you does all the whining around here. Mods are quick to the trigger when they think someone is attacking outlandish comments. You specifically said Watson got O’Brien fired which is false. Bill O’Brien incompetence all around is what got himself fired. His outlandish trades and mismanagement of the cap is what got him fired. And his stubbornness and nasty freaking attitude got him canned. That skit had nothing to do with him and Watson being oil and water. That doesn’t make any freaking sense whatsoever.

I never said DW4 got BOB fired.

Did DW4 contribute to BOB getting fired ? Sure he did. So did Devlin/Watt Weaver/Kelly etc...

What have I whined about?

Once that article was posted about Watson having input on the next HC, he's been posting that narrative. It's so obvious, it's laughable.

What's laughable? Is DW4 going to have input on not only the next HC but also the GM? Unlike any other org in the NFL and if they fail then that should fall directly on DW4 shoulders along with Cal for putting together about the worst search committee you could dream of putting together.

Ok let's be honest. If a new HC comes in and Watson is still playing at the same level as now. With no change, and the HC is fired for not being able to get to the next level. Watson is part to blame. No if, and or buts about it. He is going to stamp his "ok" on a HC. I don't care who picks them. You know Watson has to like them. So if everything stays as is... you have to say that Watson played a role. Making the post above basically true. If it happens to be EB, who did magic with Mahomes. Then Watson should get better also.

I still have a feeling that the HC is Romeo until after next year. When we have more draft picks and maybe via trade better picks. Seeing right now, a HC is going to be either younger and wanting to get his feet wet. Or a former HC who did ok with the last team but is trying to show he is legit. Besides that, I don't see a great HC taking on a team that honestly is in need of a partial rebuild. OL, DBs, a DL player or 2 and a RB...and a WR or 2. That is not going to happen in one season. Like JJ said "I'm not looking for a rebuild" and most coaches are not either unless they have free reign.
If Watson is still playing at the level he is now, which Is MVP level, said HCs will undeservedly keep their Coaching jobs just as OB (The QB Killer/GM Killer) thanks to Watson bailing him out.

I have not asked nor heard anything about Palcic's termination - I find it irrelevant to the performance of the team & if they parted ways with her over political differences , she wouldn't be the first nor the last to suffer that fate ... It would not surprise me if this parting of ways with Stills was related to that issue and others. I just don't find it to be of any consequence to the bottom line.
I thought the bottom line was winning football games? With Cobb out, having Stills around helps with the bottom line, at least this year.

But, I don't think winning football games is the bottom line for the organization, sadly, nor has it ever been. The bottom line is to make money and look good doing it. No, not the team looking good, I mean the owners image.

Not just against terrible defenses, he’s been playing like that since O’Briens firing.

Not against the Packers/Browns.

You know, the 2 playoff teams the Texans have faced since BOB was fired.

If you recall, I thought DW4 would play well against the Pats/Lions. He did that so I wasn't overly surprised or impressed for that matter. He played well as he should have against those 2 teams.

I should have gotten myself caught up with the rest of the posts in this thread. We're done with Stills and on to Watson. My bad.

Watson rarely targeted the tight ends against Detroit. What's up with that? I didn't see much of the game. Was he locked in on just Fuller, Cooks and Duke? What's up with that???

I believe that’s on the system. We’ve had years of inconsistent use of the TE’s since OB arrived. Tim Kelly is a student of OB’s so it follows that he has some similar tendencies.

Atkins played terrible, dude had several drops in this game. So they went away from him. Might as well stick with the hot hands right

Incorrect......Watson contributed to keeping OB around longer than he should've been allowed to. When Watson wasn't in the lineup, OB and the Texans could do little to put victories in the win column.

You could say this about just about any starting QB vs backup QB's records on any team. Fact is in today's NFL your team is only as good as it's QB.

Exactly but we know what the true agenda is.

What is my true agenda?

Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I have an agenda.

Nice try at trying to shape your agenda of trying to discredit me. Good thing is we will have a new HC soon and you can start blaming him for everything that goes wrong and nothings DW4's fault.

Pretty much the bottom line for every team. If you were to go to any NFL team owner and give them a choice whether to win every game from now on but have nobody spend any money or to lose every game but all those games will be sold out I promise you all of them will pick to sell out the games.

Most owners want to win mainly because then they can raise the tickets prices and sell more. McNairs are blessed with being in a city that enjoys the football experience and just having a team as much or more than they do winning.

Against terrible defenses.
LMAO. So what? Watson didn’t set the schedule. I thought it was about winning games?

You might not know this, but Manning feasted on a division with two expansion teams. Brady feasted on the Jets, Dolphins and Bills for the majority of his career. They were not playing elite defenses every week.

Previously, it was 8 bad games and counting. Now it’s elite defenses. Next it will be he played well against an elite defense, but it was garbage time stats. Next will be DW4 can’t get to a championship game. After that it will be he can’t win a Super Bowl. Face it. When it comes to Watson, you will always find something to complain about. Always moving the goal posts and never willing to be objective.

The Jags GM (Caldwell) got fired today.

Lately the theme is lose to the Texans and you get fired.

No most of those people were on thin ice coming in, you didn’t see anybody saying BB was on his way out after they lost to us or even that Cam would be benched. Saw a stat that the lions HC could have won the next 23 games in a row and he still would have had a worse record than the guy he replaced at this point in each of their time there.

We (the mods) have had a quick trigger in the past when posters are attacking each other rather than the posts / information or comments on the subject.

You can disagree on substance all you want but can't call each other idiots and morons. The rules there have always been very clear.

We've also let a whole lot of slide since the initial clean up phase .... misspelling sk!t is still sh!t.

Romeo won't be the HC after this season ends , they've already come public with that as well as Easterby being replaced too.

Yeah , it's going to be a rebuild to some extent but I really don't think that's going to stop a quality candidate from taking the job. There's only 32 if these jobs and a whole lot more who would love to have them.

This is the kinda job you take when you can and hang onto it as long as you can ....
If anything stops those quality candidates from taking it , it'll be a combination of the perception of this franchise and how they do business and opportunity with a different franchise.

They've been a train wreck in the front office going from Rick Smith to Gaine to OB to nobody in particular ...

Then again , they have shown in the past to give coaching staffs a long leash. Having only 3 HC's in an 18 year span with mediocre results for the most part from each of them. They probably feel pretty comfortable in having the job for the duration of a 5 year deal.

Those that don't have other opportunities will be lining up at the door to interview - the paycheck starts at $3m which is about three times what the average OC or DC earns and ten to fifteen times what position coaches earn.
NFL Head Coach Salary 2020-21 (List of Highest paid Coaches) (sportscriber.com)

Guys at the top one or two on their wish list may not end up here , they will certainly have opportunities with the several other teams that will ultimately make changes .... but those that don't will be knocking the door down.

Texans , Jets , Lions , Falcons , Jax and Chicago have or probably will can their coaches .... Bieniemy will probably have his pick of those.

Which of those jobs is most tempting ?

The Jets with likely the #1 overall pick and $83m in cap space.
The Jags with likely the #2 pick and $84m in cap space.
Atlanta currently at pick #7 with negative $25m in cap space.
Detroit currently at pick #9 with $1.2m in cap space.
Chicago currently at pick #16 with $2.4m in cap space.
Texans with no picks in the top two rounds and negative $14.5m in cap space.

The only things Atlanta and Houston have going for them is their QB's ....

And owners who dip in to the matters of personal. Most good HCs will not want that. We know already that Cal has and will.

I think its a safe assumption that both Watson and the offense are better next season regardless of who replaces him .... OB's offensive philosophy was just poor , unimaginative & overly ambitious. His refusal to play to the strength of his players was just egotistic and ignorant.
His play calling and offensive game plan is just as bad as Deviln's OL coaching.

Find a competent RB and Center and that's enough to get back to 9-7 again ....

This is kind of how I see it.

Will DW4 be a leader that can raise his teammates play and come though in big games. He's going to have to change how he goes about doing things if he wants to be successful against the best teams.

Really it comes down to exactly thios, can he string enough good games together to win a championship against top tier teams and no beating the Lions/Jags etc... doesn't move the doesn't move the needle for me. Obviously it moves the needle for you and there's nothing wrong with that.
