Feels great to post my ''Keys to the game'' thread once again after a year of waiting! First, let's recap our much-improved team
Firstly, new front office moves with Casserly out (even though I still think he did a good job), and young and energized Rick Smith in. Nobody to blame for not taking Bush, which is good, also I still feel Mario Williams was a better for our time, but thats a new coversation.
New head coach with Gary Kubiak, who is very smart, determined to bring winning football to the city of Houston, and has a prooven-to-win offensive system from Denver.
Our Houston Texans are back this year, with the no. 1 pick Mario Williams, newly acquired Anthoney Weaver, Dunta Robinson look like he is ready to step it up with a break-through season.
On the other side of the ball, Mike Flanagan is ready to lead a re-energized and re-focused offensive line, for QB David Carr. Carr has a proven-to-work offense now with Gary Kubiak's system. Look how much imporved he made Jake Plummer from Denver. Also, look for Andre Johnson to bounce-back with a great year, and having another outstanding wideout in Eric Moulds takes alot of pressure off AJ. Add into the mix our great RB in Domanick Daivs who nearly rushed for 3,000 years in 3 seasons with us. He is poised to have another solid season on the ground. Don't forget about our great TE tandem either, Jeb Putzier is brought over from Kubiak's high powered Denver offense, Mark Bruener is a great blocking specialist, but dotn be suprised to see him go out and nag a few balls, also rookie TE Owen Daniels is supposively having a solid training camp and could raise some eyebrows. Finally, Benny Joppru. Injury has plauged Jop is past years so he has not had a chance to show his stuff. That will change this year, and we may finally see all the athletism he has to offer. This is a great core of TE's.
We are re-foucused as fans and extremely excited. Remember last year when we were struggling i kept saying, ''stick with us thru these hard times and support us, because it will make the good times feel that much sweeter''. Well, those of you that did- the good times are now!
KEYS TO GAME: VS. KANSAS CITY
-Do not necesarilly worry about the outcome of the game in terms of winning or losing. Get are starters some reps and keep them healthy. Let backups and third-strings also get plenty of playing time in order to build up depth.
-Experiment! The coaching staff should not be afraid to try and few trick plays to see how then pan out. This could help us greatly in the regular season if we would ever need to use one or two.
-Scream! Fans- we are back! This could very well be the Houston team we have been waiting for! It is time to show why Houston fans are the NFL's Best!
GO TEXANS 2006!
