Since nothing else is going on I thought id ask..is anyone else worried about how much we are taking after the Broncos?
Before I go any further let me set a few things straight.
1. I love what we have done this offseason and have high hopes for this season.
2. Kubiak is a great choice for HC.
3. I like our new philosphies.
Let me also make it clear that I have no problem with us adopting a similar style of play as the Broncos. They may not have been in the superbowl recently but they have stayed competitive, and really.. thats what you need to do.. just stay competitive and hope for a streak at the end of the year.
No, what worries me is the scouting, and the type of players we may start bringing in.
Maurice Clarret
The entire browns defensive line
Ron Dayne
Jake Plummer
Javon Walker
All of these players were high risk signings. More than any other team in the NFL, it seems the Broncos like to make those controversial deals that has people shaking thier heads. I dunno if it is arrogance, or perhaps a greater "vision" that makes them do these things.. but they seem to have a "boom or bust" philosophy when it comes to the draft and free agency.
Now, I dont mind a little bit of "chance" in our signings.. but im praying that our front office does not make the same kind of reaches that the Broncos make. I dont want us to draft the next Claret, or sign the entire Cardinals Oline, or any of that nonsense.. I like to see chances taken, as long as that recklessness is tempered with a much greater portion of safe, intelligent choices.
