Lucky explained to me in another thread why the Texans are in no position to trade l. Tunsil, which is because a trade would accelerate the recognition of future cap hits because of restructuring of tunsils contract for which we have inadequent current cap space.
My question is ? Do we any such constraints regarding dw4s contract if we had an opportunity to trade him ?
I may be 100% wrong.....if Watson is suspended for the 2021 season, then his cap hit is removed which gives the Texans the room to complete the signing of Taylor and the re-working of Tunsil's contract. Maybe Caserio is planning on no Watson for the 2021 season.
At this point I think the FO knows it’s over. Watson won’t be traded and will probably be suspended for a year anyways and HOU has zero high picks. I think we all need to accept that this is a lost year and Caserio will slow roll this rebuild into next year when he dumps Watson and can draft a QB and start over.I may be 100% wrong.....if Watson is suspended for the 2021 season, then his cap hit is removed which gives the Texans the room to complete the signing of Taylor and the re-working of Tunsil's contract. What are the implications of him going on the exempt list and he is subsequently cut? I'm trying to understand what happens to the Texans' cap in that scenario. Also, if he is cut can he be signed even if suspended? Let's say he is cut and the allegations bring a 6 to 8 game or year long suspension, he is free to sign with whomever and the Texans get nothing right?NFL needs to place him on the exempt list so we can cut him.

I’d love for him to trade up into the top 4 this year, but they have nothing to offer other than future picks and I don’t think he’s got the nuts to do it as a new GM.
And now that SF is up at 3, I think it’s over.
That’s some good hopium, right there.Nah.
Watson settles. Gets 6 weeks suspension from the league.
FO trades Watson on draft day to Miami.
So I dunno that doesn't look good but looks like any trade involving DW4 right now is very problematic because of his cap structure ?Yes, there would be a dead money hit if he's traded, especially if he's traded before June 1. You can play with various scenarios here - https://overthecap.com/player/deshaun-watson/5596/

I think you're looking at the wrong column. If traded before June 1st Watson dead money that we have to eat is 21.6 million. His cap hit if he remains as is is approximately 16 million. If traded before Jun 1, we're looking at ~$16MM in dead money. I don't think there is any way to get around that.

We save 10 million after June 1st.If traded before Jun 1, we're looking at ~$16MM in dead money. I don't think there is any way to get around that.
$21.6MM dead money - $5.66 cap savings = ~$16MM net dead money effect on the cap

I'm pretty sure that's exactly how it works, but if you know better why don't you enlighten us.

After Jun 1 the Texans only save $5MM because the $5.4MM prorated bonus will still count this year. The rest of that column will count next year.

Watson's cap number $15.96 M for 2021. If traded there is $21M dead money resulting in an additional cap hit of -$5.66M
See the parentheses?
So I dunno, but looks like that 16M DM # prohibits a trade of DW4 prior to June 1 ?If traded before Jun 1, we're looking at ~$16MM in dead money. I don't think there is any way to get around that.
I would not pay Garoppolo 25 million for this season. His salary of 24 + his roster and per game bonus.Probability he plays for Texans ever again. 0.001%
My Boy Nicky needs to get real here. Every team know watson's kink so were not at fault if they willingly trade at this point.
Watsons agent needs to get to Miami and reassure them of his value.
Then Nick needs to turn some of that draft pick for Garrapolo......... Destiny fulfilled
We could be competitive day 1
Texans will not let the dead money stop them from making a trade if that's what they want to do.So I dunno, but looks like that 16M DM # prohibits a trade of DW4 prior to June 1 ?

I agree. If they can get this clown out of town and end this fustercluck, I think they will just take whatever they can get and be done with it. And if they can somehow manage to get up to 6 it would be a miracle.Texans will not let the dead money stop them from making a trade if that's what they want to do.

Interesting, why would the NFL stop any trade for Deshaun?I agree. If they can get this clown out of town and end this fustercluck, I think they will just take whatever they can get and be done with it. And if they can somehow manage to get up to 6 it would be a miracle.
But I don’t think the league will allow any trade involving Watson anymore.
JimmyG?!?! Really?!?!
Great, HOU goes from a perv to a guy who nails pornstars.
I guess its a step up....
Unfortunately, this fiasco has all but eliminated moving Watson via trade this season. 2022 will be a wait and see as to what the damage was this season and what his value could be next off-season. This will inevitably be a costly lesson to Watson.
I think the Texans organization was fully aware of Watson's upcoming issues based on the signing of Taylor (QB1) and Finley (QB2) for the 2021 season. They were preparing themselves for the worst possible scenario......sound move Caserio.
Let's not forget that 2 teams have good assets in 2022-2023 drafts - Eagles and Lions. That could possibly allow the current mess with DW to be resolved.
Texans will not let the dead money stop them from making a trade if that's what they want to do.
Interesting, why would the NFL stop any trade for Deshaun?
Because there’s still a chance of criminal charges.Texans will not let the dead money stop them from making a trade if that's what they want to do.

"A week or two" ! Your dreaming Snakeeyes. A month or two maybe if DW4 is real, real lucky.Meaning I think if everything is over in say a week or two (unlikely). We could then trade him. His new team would be aware of the suspension if it happens (jail time we are stuck). And then they can plan for it and it would also probably reduce trade partners.
I dunno what are the consequences of

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
So let me see if I've got this right ?
Management & ownership got wind of DW4s "lifestyle" involving a wide array of
masseuses, and it's likely that DW4s good buddy D-Hop introduced him to that lifestyle, therefor the Texans expedited Dw4s bad influence
out of town by accepting a deal with shitty terms from the Cards. And the Texans continued to bug DW4 about his lifestyle further alienating our incredibly foolish and stupid young superstar when all they were trying to do was save him from getting mired in the quagmire he now finds himself hopelessly stuck in.

Its 26 women now.
It's become a little tricky. I try to have a little patience, and give the post a chance to settle. It may seem like the post didn't go through, but it usually does in time.Second time the post button has double posted
Watson is going to be incentivised to settle as he wants to give Texans incentive to trade him.
If Texans have had communication with Miami and like their proposal, then sooner rather than later will be ideal. Strike while the iron is hot.
There is no way I am going to give a huge discount allowing for suspension - I probably would downgrade a high first down a little but not a whole first.
I am thinking we may see a settlement in the next 2-3 weeks.
Yes it seem to be cleared up for a brief time but has reverted back to duplicate posts. Sometimes the refresh button works and sometimes it does not. Patience is a virtue that I am trying to obtain LOL! It just gets frustrating when you're in a flow of conversation on two or three different threads and slows down the thought process when you have to wait for the system to catch up.It's become a little tricky. I think the discount was dropping from 1.3 to 6 pick as it allowed Miami to push round ones into the future and those could be San Francisco picks; possibly allowing Miami to keep their own. Two round ones and two round two in the top 50 this draft would be excellent as things stand, anything extra would be gravy for the chicken.Watson is going to be incentivised to settle as he wants to give Texans incentive to trade him.
