Let’s not forget something that came up multiple times when talking about the Hopkins trade. Texans don’t have to agree to anything. Watson is under contract and he has already signed on the dotted line. If he sits out then he owes money, if he doesn’t and phones it in then IMO he is killing his career because if you were an NFL team would you want a QB that throws a fit and barely plays no matter how talented they are.

Like wise what locker room wants to follow a QB willing to do that? So yeah as much as we talk about Watson having the power legally and league wise Texans I’d say do. Also remember ultimately the only opinions that matter don’t belong to the media, players or fans. It’s belongs to 32 people and they have shown they can blackball a player before.

Would you want a guy to basically be the CEO of your billion $$$$ business that has 4 arrests on his rapsheet. Billionaires usually dont take those types of risks with their brand
Would trust a preacher with an agent. Which is more damning

With this teams history, he speaks for the players. He has zero fear of losing the dudes he just fought all season with over the dude that lies to them, he being their leader is a part of them.

They can black ball a lower caliber player absolutely. This is a franchise QB, in his prime, and you’re in the wrong. Watson won’t have a problem finding a team.

I wouldn't hire Bienemy, did you see Reid proteges Pederson's offense this yr or Nagy's offense today? Pass

The genius behind the Chiefs offense is a HOF HC Reid and a generational QB, Mahomes. Not to mention all of the other talent on that team.

He speaks for players that 92%, 49 out of 53, of them deserve to be cut. Yeah I don’t think Texans will lose sleep over that. We’re not talking about a playoff caliber team we are talking about a team that only did better than two teams that were tanking.

Not sure where you get “the dude that lies to them” unless you know exactly what has been said to the players. Seems to me given how generous Texans were with contracts those players might want to ask themselves which side their bread is buttered on.

Also Kap was in the prime of his career. Not saying Watson won’t find a team but I think it will some scrub team that is just looking to make a splash.

Exactly what lie was told?

DW4 was on the committee so I'm sure he was consulted.

One person has an overinflated sense of his importance and is paying money to someone else to feed that.

The other one broke the law and was suspected of covering up sexual assault from his players in college.

The fact you compare the two boggles my mind.

Mercilus.

I think you were correct that @Texian was adding Cunningham to clear the contract off the books .... But I'd make them take Mercilus instead , he's a worse contract and worse player.

You want Watson , I want 3x #1's , 3x #2's 2x #3's and you take Mercilus. Non Negotiable.
Is this with or without Tua? Would Tua count as one of your 1s?

At this point Watson is hurting the teams ability to get a coach. He needs to demand a trade or publicly claim he’s happy. If he wants to keep this up get rid oh him.
His ass is sipping margaritas and living life on his yacht. Have you seen his Instagram? He isn't thinking about any of this stuff. The media is ruining our chances at a top HC not Watson.

Watson really has no leverage. If he demands a trade the team is in no way obligated to oblige him nor can he force them to by sitting out.

The most recent CBA changed the rules in favor of the teams / league.

Unlike the NBA where if a player sits out their contract continues to toll .... in the NFL that contract is frozen.

So he can sit out and not get paid and be on the hook for the signing bonus money or he can show up and get paid.

His bag is secure. The ship is sinking. He can very easily be injured; so I’m told his play style leans towards that way anyway.

I’m not saying that happens because he’s on a yacht right now and all this is dumb anyways.

Dudes wanna jump to an extreme and defend it like Watson’s said anything then get butthurt when the opposite is suggested.

More examples of why he should seek trade. 92% deserve to be gone. That’s what they surround you with. That’s what the brain trust invested into. This franchise has done nothing but fail him on the field. They’ve paid him and he’s delivered; so much so they paid him AGAIN. They’re not doing him a favor at this point. He’s an established product and we’re a Mickey Mouse franchise w incompetent leadership.

I don’t need to be in the room when one of the participants held a press conference and showed his incompetence; ignoring the OB promotion.

I don't think that's the suggestion.

Watson is the reason a coach would come here - There aint much else (other than being a 1 of 32 jobs in the world).

No Watson .... would you come to this dumpster fire ?!
Depending on the coach, yes. There have been worse situations and they still find head coaches. To my knowledge, no NFL team has started the season without a coach because they couldn't find one to take the job.

Wasn’t it Watson that said “Nobody’s going anywhere”. So he seemed pretty happy with those bad 92% of players.

Give me thdeal you proposed and there will be much more talent here. Add that talent and more guys will want to play in houston rather than what we have now. Nobody wants to play for a dumpster fire and many here dont even want to be here.

That’s not the argument. He’ll lead whatever he’s given. Don’t expect a masterpiece w a smatter mustard and ketchup.

Dude ain’t said much while he’s on vacation; meanwhile you’re spinning yourself up lol

Have there been guys that said they don't want to play in Houston?

Who would be the QB moving forward?

How so? I’ve said from the beginning I think this is one “reporter” trying to gets hits and I’ll wait for Watson to speak himself before passing judgement. Meanwhile the possibility and the “what if” makes great conversation. Some of the best we’ve had all season.

If Watson's opinion doesn't matter, why would it matter to a prospective head coach? Trying to follow the logic.
Because we go from a team with a franchise QB to a complete rebuild without him. It’s matters to potential coaches don’t you think? We’ve already
been turned down by the colts DC.

So we back to not having talent once Obrien got canned. Last offseason after all the moves and extension you were ranging about the talent we finally have. What lol happened

No he was not consulted. But like I said before, if he truly wanted to be a part of that decision. Well he should've pushed his vacation back in a few weeks.

I just dont choose to believe a member on the committee didn't give his thoughts on who the next GM/HC would be.

But you're right about the vaction stuff.

I do think Watson's presence matters to potential head coaches. I think it mattered more in enticing Nick Caserio to take the GM position than his relationship with Rasputin. Which is why Cal should have kept Deshaun in the loop, and should get him back into the loop.

So maybe, take your franchise QB into the inner circle when you make major decisions that will affect his career?

In the case of the GM , the guy they got far exceeds the qualifications of the others on the list.

I don't believe he should have any input on the GM decision at all - NONE.

I think he probably should have some input on the HC / OC decision as those are people he will have to work with on a daily basis and they "need to be on the same page" in terms of X's and O's. They need to have a similar philosophy to some extent or at least some level of trust / understanding.

The GM on the other hand should be detached from all of the above - almost an apathetic / emotionally detached decision maker.

I don't believe he should have any input on the GM decision at all - NONE.

Agreed, unless Cal told him he could have input, then didn’t bother to get it from him. Other than that, players shouldn’t have any say, or be apart of the decision making I guess I should say, of upper management. Who has done that ever?

Now, having input on a HC, someone you’re going to be working with, meeting with, being taught by, getting yelled at, on a daily basis, I could see wanting to be more involved with the process there. But even then, that’s not for a player to decide. What’s next, does Watson want input on the players we draft too? Is he putting a draft board together, doing some scouting, watching film?

I just think this whole thing is being overblown by the media because that’s the clickbait world we live in now. Haven’t heard anything from Watson himself about any of it it. Other than some cryptic tweet. And even when he comes back from vacation, when’s the next time he has to be in front of mic/Zoom answering questions about anything, OTAs in May? May not get clarity on any of this for a while. Could have months of this bullshit unless he actually decides to speak on it at some charity event or something.

I would absolutely HATE to trade Deshaun, and I wouldn't do it, but at this point Cal had jacked this relationship up so bad that trading him may just be the only option. And if you do trade him, then Miami would he the best option.
Now Miami would be getting a franchise QB and we'd be left in the doldrums again, so it'd have to be a kings ransom to get it done. The only scenario I'd trade Watson for would be for a deal like this:
Miami receives Watson
Houston receives 2021 1st rd pick #3 & #18.
2021 2nd round pick #36 & #50. 2022 1st and 2022 3rd.
We'd lose our franchise QB but we would be able to replenish at other positions and maybe get a QB in free agency. Maybe Rivers if he leaves the colts or see if we could bring Trubisky in if we hire a good offensive coach like Brady or Daboll.
Idk. I hope we just fire Easterby and Deshaun stays.
