PITTSBURGH (Jan. 17, 2007) -- Russ Grimm sounded like a man who can't wait to coach the Pittsburgh Steelers. He can only hope the Steelers agree he's ready to become only their third head coach in 38 years. (cont..)

I still can't get used to the idea of Russ Grimm being the head coach of anything. When I think of Pittsburgh I think of defense more than anything else. An ex-hog just doesn't fit that puzzle.

My vagueness has to do with the fact that I don't know a thing about his coaching ability. Is he as offensive minded as I would imagine? Strong running game? Thoughts?

Apologies for the pic. It was inevitable.

If I had to compare Grimm's philosophy to a current coach, and make parrallel comparisons, I'd say he reminds me a LOT of Andy Reid and some of Bill Cowher.

I know that many in Pittsburgh (used to live in the vincinity of it) stated that Grimm was Cowher's right hand man and made a lot of the adjustments in play calling that helped the Steelers last year.

I know that he's the type of coach who commands respect without screaming and acting like a startled chicken to get it. He sort of has that quiet "don't f#ck with me demeanor" to where his teams react accordingly and play to the best of their abilities.
