Troy "tater Tot" Smith will be lucky to be draft in the first. If he slides into day two, I wouldn't be surprised.
Our Line-
OLT LG C RG RT
Spencer 6'-5" Pitts 6'-4" Flanagan 6'-5" Weary 6'-4" Winston 6'-6"
Tater Tot- 6'
OK you may want to ignore the height issue, but the NFL will not. The lost of Ginn Jr. exposed the tater in the national chapionship game. You can throw up as many stats as you want. The bottom line is the heigth and the national campionship game will force him down the boards. His speed will give him a chance to make it. It's going to take a couple of years to get the guy on line IMHO. He not only has mechnical problems, he's got to learn to throw between the gaps in the o-line. That is not an easy thing to learn. His heigth makes him miss open recievers. And in the NFL, where the windows are small, short and quick to close, that is not a good thing for a short QB.
Year Games Attempts Completions Comp % Yards TDs Interception QB Rating
2004 8 122 68 55.7% 896 8 3 134.15
2005 11 237 149 62.9% 2,282 16 4 162.66
2006 12 297 199 67.0% 2,507 30 5 167.87
Career 44 656 416 63.4% 5,685 54 12 159.72
why wouldnt you want him. in 06 he threw 297 time completed 199 of them at 67 percent completion and for 2507 yards thats 12.6 yards a completion.....wow.....better than what we have...you know......plus he threw for 30 tds and only 5 int.....thats more tds than carr the last 2 YEARS wow......he sux.....come on he won the heisman trophy he is allowed one bad game
i agree......he is a great athlete and with a powerful arm....i think he would be a good fit because we eally need a qb to be able to run especially if we dont do much upgrading of the oline....that said i would take him in the second if he falls to us and in the first i still say forget the rb and get landry or nelson....
carr had better everything except ints and yards per completion was about 1 yard shorter than smiths.....diff is we wont have to throw smith to the wolves right away and he wont be a franchise guy and have ton of pressure rght away like carr.....we f'd up carr no one else.....capers and casserly did a number on him ....we might as well start over with the qb.....
actually id ditn know he had problems? what are they?and i agree with landry in the 1st

You hear it all the time out of the sports world.
A tremendous athlete with loads of potential gets into trouble off the field and quickly heads down a slippery slope. Ohio State senior quarterback Troy Smith has loads of potential and he has had off the field problems, but he did what others seldom can: he never slipped.
While a junior, Smith was suspended for Ohio States bowl game against Oklahoma State, as well as the first game of the 2005 season, because he accepted $500 from a booster. Some athletes find trouble off the field and it follows them until it eventually sinks their career.
Not Smith.
Here is a little about Smith's "off field issues":
I seriously doubt this incident hurts him at all...
And I think Nelson is going to shoot up the draft boards and be ranked as the best DB coming out....

Are you sure he hasent gotten arrested in college?
Are you sure that he has ?
i dont like sage and plummer like otheres have stated is merely an older carr...granted he is a little better....even if we start any of the guys you say we still need a rookie to mold....these guys are all getting older and wont last much longer.. why not get a good qb that was a 1st rounder but is dropping somewhat.....
Just from what I heard from ESPN about a month ago right befor the game
I'm not denying it...
I just wanted to know if you were sure or not...
ya....but they said everyone was nervous and that it would all be ok after a few practices....hope he does well.....
I agree, that we need a new QB, but not at all costs.. not to where we are taking chances on the first thing that glitters.
We've got Sage, and we may get Plummer, we also may be able to turn Bradlee & Q into something, who knows.....
We just need to build our team, get our cap numbers straight, then in the future when the opportunity presents itself, we can make a move for a QB, without really hurting our team....... ala Denver & Jay Cutler.
Right now, missing on a second round pick would really set us back.
