BUENO!
Preseason has to go. I was very much opposed to an 18 game regular season but tonight I finally had to face something that I think all Texans fans probably deal with on a yearly basis.
If two more regular season games will bring an end to having to listen to Spencer Tillman talk two weeks sooner than usual then I'm for it. Sure, there's probably a downside to an 18 game schedule but damn!
As for the game...
We sucked it bad tonight. The defense in particular never showed up. That's unsettling to say the least.
The Trindon Holliday experiment is over as far as I'm concerned (which means nothing to the Texans but there it is). He looks like a guy who's overwhelmed at this level. Unless they want to spend a year babying him on the practice squad to see if they can get him through it I don't think he'll make it. That's not as far fetched as it sounds.
I'm still not a Dan Orlovsky fan but this week he looked almost as good as the UDFA "3" that New Orleans found and put on the practice squad for a year. That kind of makes our handing $9.15 million dollars for a project 3rd stringer a little stupid but spilled milk and all.
Arian Foster screwed up with the fumble and he'll catch some deserved crap for it when they get back to Houston. He caused that fumble and he'd better understand that and fix it.
Steve Slaton looks less and less viable every week but then he's not playing with the 1's this week much if any so it's hard to tell. He looks pretty returning kicks though so at least we won't be in too deep a pile of poo when they cut Trindon.
Jeremiah Johnson is playing in garbage time with the 3's so he's even harder to figure out. I still suspect though that he and Foster will end up being our best two backs when it's all said and done.
My biggest concern though was the Spencer Tillman problem. We need to put a stop to that whatever it takes.
