Death to Google Ads! Texans Talk Tip Jar! 🍺😎👍
Thanks for your support!
I watched this last night live and it was magical. Baldinger's analysis of all the different plays we run out of the same formation was great and I think it shows just how far the offense has come.
Remember the days when we said as long as we had an even average defense we would go pretty far in the NFL. Those days are upon us now and thensome since the defense is probably better than the offense is now.
I'll never forget Baldinger chuckling at Mark Vandermeer a couple years
back when he was asked about the Texans' playoff chances (the interview
occurred near the end of the Texans 9-7 season.) Sterling Sharpe has ALWAYS
been a huge Texans' fan, and I'm sure he's glad the team doesn't embarrass
him every week like we once did.
It feels good the Texans are able to FORCE people to respect them now.
They still get less than 30 seconds of shine on ESPN, though.
The same guy that picked Jville last week. He was the color commentator during the OSU and LA Monroe game last week and was still crowing about how the Jags were going to beat Houston. He's a tool.
So you've never been wrong about anything before? Baldinger isn't a tool just because he picked the wrong horse.. he's picked Houston plenty of times in the past.

Awesome post!Yah...
Del Rio: Hey Joel, can i borrow you for a minute?
Dreesen: Sure, what's on your mind, coach?
Del Rio: Look at this formation...what plays do the Texans run out of this?
Dreesen: let's see...uhm...run right or left, pass short or deep, boot, reverse...
Del Rio: and what about this one?
Dreesen: anything they want...
Del Rio: this one?
Dreesen: anything! Look, unless you weren't paying attention twice a year in Jax, which is possible seeing you were fired, the Texans will run whatever they want out of whatever formation they want on any down-and-distance they want...anything else?
Del Rio: where can i get a drink?
Baldinger's exact quote is, "I don't know if they are really gonna upset them (the Texans) but...I have been wrong before, but not on something as obvious as last week's game. Love ya some bent pinky if you want. Baldinger has always been a Texans hater. Has no credibility in my book.
This VIDEO will get you revved up like a deuce!

He was buying into the Jags looking good more than hating the Texans. Just watch it yourself.

It's an opinion show...Plus he's right about how Houston has been an underachiever in the past. Still, he didn't come across as a hater there...he was wary of making the Jag pick.Much of the animosity comes from Baldinger's attitude towards the Texans before. An example of that is a previous post in this thread talking about Vandermeer's interview with him.
610 had him on for an interview during the lockout summer in June or July. One of their teasers (or whatever) was about how he disliked the Texans.
Among Baldinger's points were about how they underachieved and he mentioned things he didn't like about Kubiak. While some of what he said was valid, I found it to be mostly petty and I still maintain that even though he might favor the Texans now, some of that is still there.
I think it comes down to context. For those of us that have heard him rip the Texans before(warranted or not), it's in the back of our minds everytime he talks about them.

I think that showed in his Jaguars pick.

all this homer stuff makes me goofy...its like partisan politics. ugh.
I knee jerk a bit myself...for the record of course.

Texans got to earn that time. They have been the sexy pick for the playoffs for years and up until last year failed to deliver time and time again. If the Texans can get a big win today over Team Peyton they will earn some time. Continue winning big games and ESPN will be forced to give respect and analysis.
Respect isn't given, its earned.

It doesn't have crap to do with any amount of "respect". It has to do with ESPN's horrible production and bias. Houston has already earned the respect, they're one of the best teams in the league and have been for well over a entire season. They have premier playmakers on both sides of the ball. I mean are you really going to tell me Tebow/the Jets or the freaking train wreck Cowboys have earned more "respect". And it's not just Houston, there's other teams that should be getting more air time, but get passed over by "ETSN" (Entertainment Tebow Sports Network)
ESPN is just a horribly produced sports channel, but there's really no other channel to challenge them so it is what it is.

The Texans have had 1 playoff year thus far. At the moment the texans are tied with the new Cleveland browns in terms of playoff appearances in the league. 1 year does not earn respect, it's done over a longtime of continued excellence and/ or a large fan base. As much as we don't like To think of it, the Texans are largely irrelevant outside of Texas. More sustained winning will grow the brand and elicit respect.
The cowboys have the third most amount of Super Bowl trophies in the league and have one of the biggest if not biggest fan bases in the league. More recently they have had jerruh's head scratching comments. Espn will cater to what people want to talk about. See the jets: jets have been a team of one liners with Rex. Prior to Rex they were largely ignored. To get on espn you need continued success or have some zany character.
The texans are taking the first route.
I don't know that it is necessarily ESPN's bias as much as it is the nation's bias. Houston is a smaller sports market because our fans are essentially limited to the Houston area and surrounding. Catering to Cowpoke fans just makes business sense since they are more popular. That said, I haven't watched ESPN for a non-sporting event in years because I'm tired of waiting for 30 seconds of coverage for my team(s).
This VIDEO will get you revved up like a deuce!
I think it has more to do with Jerry Jones being the biggest media whore in all of sports.. He puts out for ESPN, supplies them with headlines and makes their jobs easier. In turn they're constantly talking about his team, even when his team sucks. It's a great relationship. They're not even "America's team" anymore, Pittsburgh is and they get half the coverage.
Rex Ryan and the Jets were doing this as well.. to the point where ESPN wasn't even talking about the SB winning NY Giants. Which further proves my point that ESPN's amount of coverage doesn't have anything to do with respect or wins. If you can't even get coverage in your own city over a freak show team like the NY Jets then ESPN really doesn't care about how much you win, they just want fluffy headlines. Again they're a gossip sports network. Think of them as the TMZ of sports coverage.

Baldinger was huge on Schaub when we picked him up. I remember his analysis was spot on regarding the upgrade at QB position, which has clearly been reinforced since then.
No kidding. How the hell does Texans get no love from Espn? This team is a blast to watch.
Yeah, but I do remember him blasting McNair for keeping Kubiak around a couple years ago. He basically said the Texans' failures start from the top. Which, at the time, was probably warranted too.
I've never had a problem with Baldy.
That said, I truly wish they'd get Irvin off my friggin TV. He ruins whatever show he's on when he opens his face.

LOL, ESPN just had "Breaking News" and cut into a program to pull away to a Rex Ryan press conference where he announced Darrelle Revis tore his ACL
Andre Johnson could fall victim to a horrific farm accident and lose both arms and legs and he'd never get this ridiculous coverage (Ryan was basically crying), All you'd get was a bottom scroll.
This doesn't have crap to do with "respect" Which Houston will never gain after a big conference win.. :wadepalm: Shat (the aftermath), the Giants don't even get the coverage that the (new cowboys, the Jets) do. It's comical
No you will have him out the rest of the season! lol sorry I just could not resist.Should I take a look at your knee for you, Vinny?
Green Bay has done fairly well in their small market. We need to quit whining about air time and respect and keep dominating the next team up.I don't know that it is necessarily ESPN's bias as much as it is the nation's bias.
