My thoughts on Loss to New York Jets

Our Houston Texans fell to the New York Jets earlier today by a final score of 26-11. Our record fell to 3-8 on the season.

Not a great performance by our Texans today, espically on offense. I really expected a better performance today, but it turned out to be not one of our better games.

Offensively, again, not good. I expected us to take a few more shots deep than we did, perhaps we could do that on a defense like the Jets. We had many stalled drives, some three-and-outs, we failed to establish the running game and it all accounted for a bad day on offense.

David Carr did not to anything great obviously, he did make a few plays with his legs however. He did get sacked 3 times, and those really looked to be on him as he should be throwing the ball in those situations even if he's throwing it away. He did a descent job protecting the football aside from the interception in the second half which was a bad read and bad pass so that's something to work on.

Again, it's important to keep in mind that this is a new offensive scheme ran by new coaches and it simply takes time to fully adjust and be effective in this sitaution. We are not going to see many games with spectauclar offensive performances when you have again, a new scheme and new coaches, and the many young players we have. Give it time, the pieces are their we just need to continue molding it together.

Defensively today, not that bad. We stopped thier running game and really battened down and made plays when we had to in the red-zone to hold the Jets to field goals. We played a little worse as we got into the second half, but when the offense isn't scoring points when the defense is making stops, the defense may tend to get worn out, so to speak.

Mario Williams played pretty good today. He's playing injured, so he's a warrior, and he's only going to get better. He was worth the no. 1 pick as I said he would be. DeMeco Ryans stepped up and played great once again, and he's only going to get better and better. Anthoney Weaver alos had a solid day on the defensive side of the ball today.

This defense is so young, has alot of new players and also is adjusting to a new scheme from a 3-4 to 4-3. Things like this take time to fully develop, but they are certainly coming together and playing pretty solid these past several weeks and there is certainly still room for improvement, and that will come.

I hate to sound like I'm making excuses when I keep brining up the new schemes and new coach statements, and its not an excuse for what goes on sometimes, but it will simply take some time to fully develop on both sides of the ball, and so far this year we have seen spurts of a great offense and with the defense, they are playing pretty solid already, so we can't really judge it quite yet in my mind, we'll just have to give it some time.

We are now 3-8, and have a tough challenge next week as we will prepare to go on the road once again as we will travel to Oakland to battle the Raiders next Sunday, and it's never easy when your playing in Oakland. I will talk more about this sorta thing in my post tomorrow.

Continue to cheer us on fans, the future of our football team is bright
