I tried to make this as realistic as possible, for that reason I do not have us taking somebody like Kendall Wright or Whitney Mercilus in the 1st round. Kendall Wrights 40 time is meaningless
he has too much good tape, and after Merciluss pro day I doubt that a guy who is seen to have the ability to be a 3-4 olb and led the nation in sacks will be available at 26.
Round 1. Peter Konz C - Guy is a stud, very low bust probability, will probably be BPA at 26, and he could probably start from day one if we don't resign Myers or Brisiel. Also if somebody goes down, we were really lucky as far as lack of interior line injuries last year, he could step in and play a lot better than Caldwell.
Round 2. Harrison Smith SS - I'm hoping this guy slips to us. He would allow us to part ways with Dominique Barber and or Shiloh Keo, provide quality depth, and maybe even challenge Glover Quin.
Round 3. Jared Crick DE Solid player who had good college career and would have been drafted higher had it not been for the old pectoral muscle injury. I see him as the eventual replacement for Antonio Smith.
Round 4. Bruce Irvin OLB This guy needs to put on some weight and he does not seem to be good against the run but if you put this guy in on 3rd down and tell him to rush the passer I think that he can be pretty dangerous. I have high hopes for Braman so I dont have us taking a OLB in the first two rounds. I assume that Mario will be gone because a lot of teams have a TON of cap space.
5. Nick Jean-Baptiste NT Big Fatty to draw double teams. Would be amazing if he developed into anything close to a guy like Ahtyba Rubin.
6. Adrien Cole ILB WAC Defensive player of the year who is a 2 down thumper. He is a hard hitter with solid college production.
7. Randy Bullock K Good college kicker who could replace or provide competition for Neil Rackers .
PS. I know I dont have a WR in this mock draft. My reasoning is that we need a starting, not backup WR and I just dont see Stephen Hill as a day 1 starter. In order to get a day one starter I think we will have to trade up to 18. The Bears draft at 19 and have nothing at WR. I am really hoping that we get Eddie Royal on the cheap. I think he would be a lot better than anybody in the draft not named Blackmon, Floyd, or Wright. Blast away!!!
