A day after word broke that the Colts would be parting ways with defensive coordinator Ron Meeks, Meeks has taken the iniative by resigning.
The news comes via a two-sentence press release titled Colts Announce Staff Change: Ron Meeks has resigned as defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts, the club announced today. Meeks served in this capacity with the club since 2002.
Thats it. No hes going to spend more time with his family. No we thank him for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors. Not even a dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
As we heard it on Monday, the Colts advised Meeks that his services wouldnt be retained, and the Colts opted to give him time to find another job before cutting the cord. After all, its typically easier to find a job when you have a job.
But Meeks has decided to end the relationship before the Colts would or could pull the trigger.
And so, in a week since Tony Dungy retired and Jim Caldwell took the wheel, the Colts have shed two of their three coordinators.
Weve got a feeling that, if Colts fans had realized there was going to be so much turnover on the staff, they would have simply preferred a new head coach with no prior ties to the franchise.
Wow its sucks to be Colts fans right now, as I see them not having that great of a year next year.
