I'm not sold that Peppers was a bigger risk then a college QB with 1 good year under his belt. I also hope that McNair will not influence the direction of the draft ever again.

Peppers not considered
Owner Bob McNair said the Texans never considered choosing Julius Peppers with the No. 1 pick in the 2002 draft. He said the Texans were only looking at franchise quarterbacks, settling on David Carr.
"We didn't look seriously at (Peppers) because we knew we needed a franchise quarterback," McNair said. "And the question was, were there any out there? And there weren't any out there available other than through the draft. ... We really didn't consider Julius Peppers. And I'll say this, Carolina got a lot of criticism for drafting Julius that high because he had been a basketball player that hadn't played football very long."
