Mathis and Rivers mix it up off the Field

WR Jerome Mathis and TE Marcellus Rivers reportedly got into a fight on the team bus after Sunday's loss.
"The players that were involved came to my office to explain what happened," coach Dom Capers said. "They said it was over, that it was a dead issue and that there wouldn't be any lingering effects. That's good enough for me." Each player reportedly landed just one punch before it was broken up, which means the Texans couldn't even get a definite victory against each other.
:heh:

A bit off topic but this kinda sums up the teams TE situation ....

Rivers, who spent his first four seasons with the New York Giants before signing with the Texans in the offseason, is a reserve who has eight catches for 68 yards — both team highs among tight ends.

I guess you can take this one of two ways, both positives for me. Either Mathis is starting to take a leadership role already and the a vet didnt necessarily like it, or the players just simply arent as happy with losing as they look like they are on tv.

Or maybe one of them knocked the other's PSP out of his hand and broke it. Who knows?

Yes, the next thing we will hear is that they are on the IR list because of the inability to catch the ball due to injuries to their hands................

I've been saying for a long time that these coaches are doing irrepairable harm to this ball club. The frustration and the lashouts are a result of the season and how these coaches are dealing with it. If someone like Walker lashes out, someone could really get hurt. Mr. McNair, please get this ball club started in a different direction...............................

Man all you guys who played football in HS, College, or Pros you understand that you are going to get in fights with your teamates. After the fight everything is cool and you are back to business. It is just football people.

You beat me to it.

Given the age, physical and mental makeup, and sheer number of these guys that are togther for so much of the time I'd be shocked if this stuff didn't happen.

*I didn't mean mental makeup in a derogatory way - just that footballers are aggressive and feisty males.

Well I sure hope this gets the team together to be ticked enough to beat the Titans. It is a divisional game and I would like to win this one and the Jville game on Christmas Eve.

Sssshhhhhh! You wouldn't want to rile up all the guys on this board who want our team to lose would you?

I thought that was funny because Mathis never plays other than returns, and Rivers never has the ball thrown to them. So how exactly would their performance be affected if they don't play? It's starting to become blaitently obvious that the season is starting to get to some of the players.

I think Rivers blocks on ST.

Somebody called the 610 morning show when John McClain was on this week and asked about this fight....none of them knew a thing about it which I found odd. This message board is more informative than the flagship station of the team.

Rivers has played very well on Special Teams the past couple of games. Have not noticed him in blocking situations, but that guy has made a number of tackles on punts and kicks.

Me too.

This article should not have been about the "extreme details" of the situation, but that the Texans best tight end has 8 catches for 68 yards.

I wish someone would be bored enough to see how many TEs in the NFL had at least that in one half.

WHY DID WE EVER GET RID OF BILLY MILLER?!? How many times has Rivers either dropped a ball or caused an interception? This guy sucks, and I have no idea where he came from when he started playing for us. What ever happened to Murphy?

Rivers has actually played pretty well on the rare occasion that they use him on offense and has been pretty good on special teams too.
