I think i got the regular, What's the difference?
The regular figure is the standard color scheme that Spawn manufactures. They produce figures called: variant, chase, retro, or error pieces that include sometimes subtle changes to the uniform. It really is an interesting thing to pursue.
For example:
This is the series 6 regular figure of Brett Favre. Comes in both a dirty and a clean variety. Sometimes you can find a green jersey and white sleeves, or vice versa.
And here's the chase variant figure:
But there's also a Retro figure of Favre:
This one recently sold for $200+ on ebay.
The rarest one of these particular ones that were produced was a black Falcons Favre (like the one above) but it actually had a Green Bay handwarmer on it. IIRC, one of those sold for upwards of a grand on ebay a few years ago.
After doing a quick search, it looks like they only made a reg. figure of Arian.
Here's Dre's regular figure:
And here's his chase variant figure:
Does this make sense? The more changes: dirty or clean, regular or variant, errors and the like--the more valuable the piece is to collectors.
In series 1 and 2 they ran a "no helmet variation" where they literally didn't put a helmet on the player. HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE. But they stopped doing that because the NFL didn't want to "endorse" playing the game without proper protective equipment.
A very cool venture though.
