Are we now taking his thoughts as gospel?
You've gotta be kidding.
Pushing this guys buttons is going to become a sport among executives.
Big freaking deal the Lions backed out - have some damn composure wow embarrassing.
My initial thought when watching live was that another team's exec on Zoom accidentally said something mean spirited about OB while he was making the pick, which set him off. Something like "quick, offer him 2021's 7th rounder for their next pick. He's dumb enough to take it." To which his reaction was to stammer, turn red, send in his pick, say a few derogatory words in retaliation, and then stomp off camera.
Its such a treat to see a guy like this unleashed into the business landscape. He really makes you drop your jaw - especially watching it on live TV?? Comedy gold.
"well it was an issue with the Zoom thing, you know Easterby and doing so many deals on back porches" LMAO
how ironic will it be that when OBrien was rushed into a decision, that it might end up being his best (Greenard).
We have a Microsoft Teams conference call every morning with 25-30 people on and it's worked great. Every Wednesday afternoon, we have another conference call with closer to 150 people and it's gotten bogged down some. Never tried Zoom. You’ve clearly never had to try and use Zoom for a mass, high volume meeting. We are using it at work, one of the big oil giants, and it has sucked when conferencing with 3 people and 30 people. So yeah I could very much see him being mad at the “phone” God knows more than one of us has been since this all started.

What I typically see too.I am doing around 12-15 per week on Zoom and few on google meets. the size ranges all the way up too 350 for one meeting. Most of the time if there is a Zoom issue its user internet connection or unfamiliar host related. Interesting to see the different experiences.

I'm using Zoom and even Microsoft Teams daily with over 100 users. No issues except for occasional meeting attendee's internet connections issues (multiple devices streaming Netflix) or the usual batch of Id-10t errors.
We’ve been using Zoom for about a month now and it has just now gotten even close to stable. Now granted it’s just now being implemented on a company wide scale, I’m in IT so we were beta testing it, and our VPN network was never designed to handle the literally 10s of thousands it’s having to handle now. I would be curious if you guys companies have been using Zoom for awhile? That might be where the biggest difference is, they’ve had long enough to iron out the wrinkles.
I would suspect that the NFL tested it best they could but nothing like that first real world test to really show you where you are at. Of course it could also be all the at home connections and yes idiot users as well for the NFL.
Most people on Zoom are not making quick time-sensitive decisions. Internet connection issues while on Zoom (something far from unusual) in such circumstances are not just a matter of being annoying, they can be catastrophic.

just because I'm curious I would still like to know what the alleged trade was in Bill's mind anywayI could see why you have a different perspective. My use is through a relative small charter school district and a couple of non-profits. Zoom was only used every once in awhile before now.
and because this is how life works, just had a Zoom horror show. A link that worked everyone but the host, and then an outside company that could not screen share for some technical reason (I am total end user so don't ask)

Bill O'Brien laughed when he was asked about being shown walking off on the broadcast. He said he and Jack Easterby were just "messing around on zoom."

I posted bill's official words on the matter earlier in this thread
Could have sworn I read somewhere that the Lions denied ever having a deal done.So .... evidently we will never know what the trade was intended to accomplish .... I, (like Edo), am actually very curious !
I have been using Zoom for a couple of years now. As someone that has used video conferencing apps for a long time, even having worked on one for several years, Zoom is the best at maintaining a stable connection. We are using Zoom's cloud service, though. Are you doing an on-premise deployment of Zoom?
Believe me you don’t.I don't know what this Zoom is, but I'm sure I don't want it.
Yup, sounds like you guys are doing an on-premise deployment, which definitely complicates things. Good luck!I’m not 100% sure, I think it’s a mix of cloud for most and then on premise for anything marked as sensitive data. Zoom sent someone out to assist with the set up, like I said my group was doing beta, they had a use it for a month and said “try and break it” we did that day and almost every day of the beta test.
I read that too. As the Lions GM said they to talk to almost every team between picks.Could have sworn I read somewhere that the Lions denied ever having a deal done.
For a man supposedly "in control", he sure shows a lack of control under pressure.

Makes me wonder if BOB's lack of experience actually running the draft caused him to assume he had a deal when he didn't.
Still made a possibly great pick in Greenard though.
I dont get why BOB's personality bothers some so much, he's a passionate guy.
Bothered? No, not at all.
Amused by a professional GM and HC throwing temper tantrums? Yes, very much so.
I want him to do it more. It' would be even more entertaining to me. He probably has to button it up most of the time considering how quickly he can be triggered by the smallest of things.
I can think of numerous head coaches with multiple championships that do not publicly display "passion" in the form of anger management issues. It's not a requirement for the job. As a matter-of-fact, a trained psychologist would tell you that leaders need to show control of their base emotions when leading men.
"Passionate"
What are the odds of the Texans getting a hot tub time machine? What's the odds everybody stays healthy and DJ plays like the 2016 DJ? 1 in a 100 mil?
This story confuses me.Hearing now (LZ this morning) that the Lions had a ridiculous deal with several teams that they didn't fully understand, or believe, what they were offering it was so bad, including OB, that when it came time to punch the ticket, the Lions were like, no, that wasn't the offer.
Would also probably explain why the Lions are denying any deals were made.
