JJ Moses Update - if you care

Just to give you an update on JJ. Adam Schefter of NFL Network said tonight that JJ will probably end up in either Seattle or Chicago.

Seattle doesn't want use Bobby Ingram and Chicago released R.W. McQuaters and both are needing a returner and are bidding for JJ's services.

I won't. Did you not read that both of the teams above are trying get JJ. I know he's not a huge player but he does his job well and if a team doesn't have a returner JJ will do fine.

I'm with you Steel, I wish JJ well where ever he ends up.

jj was fine but i have a question if you draft a rookie say roscoe parrish should you put him as a starting punt returner over two guys who scored a touchdown each on punts?

Seahawks | Trying to Fit Moses in
Fri, 15 Jul 2005 20:09:31 -0700

Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports the Seattle Seahawks are trying to free up a roster space so they can sign free agent WR/KR/PR J.J. Moses (Texans). Seattle would like to add Moses so that it would not have to use WR Bobby Engram returning kicks and backup QB Seneca Wallace returning punts. The issue with Moses he is too small to play wide receiver meaning he takes up one roster spot as just a return man.

Bears | Trying to Fit Moses in
Fri, 15 Jul 2005 20:06:37 -0700

Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports the Chicago Bears are trying to free up a roster space so they can sign free agent WR/KR/PR J.J. Moses (Texans). Chicago is looking at Moses as the potential successor to CB R.W. McQuarters, who handled the Bears return game. Bears director of pro personnel Bobby DePaul called Moses "electrifying." The issue with Moses he is too small to play wide receiver meaning he takes up one roster spot as just a return man.

hope he has a breakout year

I sure wish he'd do SOMETHING on my Madden 20005 CE. Seems every time he gets a punt return, he puts it on the ground after getting the initial hit. When I DO start my season on here he's gonna be on the unemployment line there too if he keeps this up.

then I would say your Madden game is totally FUBAR'd. That was one thing that JJ had going for him, he never muffed a punt. Which is why teams are looking at him, IMHO. Course they have the same problem that we did. Justifying a single position on the roster JUST for a return specialist.

I wish JJ all the best and hope he lands somewhere. I will take a 'sure handed punt returner' such as JJ over a speed demon who managed to get all of ONE touchdown on a return the entire season, but occasionally drops a punt.

and you better believe that when the Texans Return man, whomever that ends up being, drops a punt for a turnover during the season, you are going to be reading the 'why in the world did we get rid of JJ' posts on this very site.

I am with you on this already!!

I think Chicago needs him more than Seattle, because they could still use Engram, since he isn't really the full time WR type.

J.J was one of my fav players on the texans. i mean who dont love a short undersized guy with speed and some killer moves ??? He didnt have break away speed but he did gove us good consistent field position.

I liked JJ a lot. Good guy with good character. Always gave us his best effort, just was never able to break away the big one.

I always wanted to come to a game where our opponents wore a red jersey; that way I could make a sign that said:

PART THE RED SEA MOSES!

(You know, because in the Bible Moses parted the Red Sea to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.)

Bears | Moses Waived
Sun, 28 Aug 2005 13:29:45 -0700

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears WR J.J. Moses was waived by the team Sunday, Aug. 28.

One of our favorites when he was here. I was hoping he would stick with the Bears.
Good Luck JJ

cac: :coffee:

Lucky for him .... who would actually want to play for that team this season , they are pretty bad .

I would be willing to wager that some team hurting for a return man will pick hi up . He doesnt make many mistakes .... hard to see him jobless this year

JJ metioned to a friend of mine that knows him he never really wanted to play in Chicago and was hoping to land somewhere close to home.

Ehh.. he might get signed during the season due to some kind of injury, or maybe for special teams.. I hate to see players willing to play without a team to play for..

Unfortunately, while JJ Moses has many fans, and by all accounts a really good guy, he faces an unhill battle as return specialist because he has been a pretty average return man w/o another skill. Tough for him.

Good luck to J.J. Moses, I am going to guess that he'll end up in Seattle, but I wouldn't want to use Bobby Engram or Senaca Wallace returning kicks. When you have Senaca Wallace on the unit, that means one less block, because he isn't getting you a good block, and Seattle needs Engram a lot more at WR.

it's really a shame that noone's picked him up yet. i wish JJ the best, but without a TD to add to his resume, teams find it hard to justify holding a roster spot for a specialist. the worst part is that if not for penalties, he'd have atleast 1 touchdown and atleast 2 more returns inside the 5 yardline.

Why does that sound like a perfect fit for him.

I do have to say that I feel real comfortable with Swinton now that he has shown even in the preseason that he can take one to the house.

And put one on the ground. Remember over his career for every 1 he has taken to the house he has put 2.5 on the ground.

You've probably heard that JJ lost his job on labor day with the Cardinals... to Swinton. The Card fans were pretty excited about JJ too, and felt like he was the only highlight to the last preseason game.

Swinton averaged 27.3 this week, with a long of 59.

Yeah, I wish JJ could have stayed there too. Wonder if Morency is going to work out or not.

I'm still dumbfounded about letting Swinton go.

As are many of us. That's completely inexplicable. The Texans decision making process mirrors that of chimp trying to work out how to pull an automatic transmission.

Send Swinton packing and start the season with nobody back there with the slightest bit of skill at returning kicks. Remember last season when they went into a game with JJ down for the count (I think it was last season) and they had Aaron Glenn doing the honors? Half of what he tried to fair catch hit the turf. We were lucky that didn't happen yesterday.
