Jack Easterby is gone!

In this town, we take wins anyway we can get them from the Texans. This is a big one. I always felt they wanted him to just go away as his contract dried up, dude must know all the dirt and no reason to get him all pissed off to expose this. I can only imagine Lopez in the midday on 610 will be so happy he will be flying

Best news I've heard all day! We can now start the real rebuild process.

That said...here's the problem. Easterbunny wouldn't have been the snake he was if he wasn't entitled by Cal, Janice, and Hannah.

The body of the snake has now been cut...but the head of the snake still exists.

The head of the snake IS the snake. There's nobody that can kill that head other than the head itself. Unless the McNair's suddenly decide to become competent owners, another snake will just attach itself to the existing head. There's always a shyster out there willing to take advantage of the clueless - and clueless completely 100% defines the McNairs.

A simple way to say it - we still have lousy ownership, among the very worst in sports. We're not ever going to be consistent winners here with Cal and Janice and the rest of that clueless family sells to competent ownership.

Still...sometimes you have to take your wins when you can get them. Today is a big one for Texans fans.

The Houston Texans and Jack Easterby are going their separate ways. ESPN first reported the split and I can confirm Easterby, the executive vice president of football operations, will no longer be with the team. Sources say head coach Lovie Smith and general manager Nick Caserio had frozen Easterby out dating back to the offseason. Sidelined by the top football decision makers, Easterby and team owner Cal McNair agreed to part ways.

Best news Texans fans have had in years. Truly repairing the relationship with the fan base can happen now that the cancer killing the host has been removed. Easterby and BOB were the 2 worst things to happen to Houston NFL football since Bud Adams moved the Oilers. Both parasites are finally gone. The Texans have driven so many of their fans away that it will take awhile to win everyone back but at least that can happen now.

You guys are horrible! A man just lost his job! He has a family and is ridiculed in public! Think how you would feel.

I'm sorry, I can't go on posting that drivel. Yeah, the Easter bunny is gone!! I expect they are doing hand springs over on 610. They really didn't like him.

Is this a joke or you're being serious? The charlatan made $3 million a year for being a snake and the worst GM in NFL history. He has millions more than you or I do and was horrible.

He’s a millionaire, so I don’t have any sympathy at all. Him and his family will be ok. As far as his name being ridiculed, he brought that crap on himself.

Maybe it’s foolish on my part to believe this firing is a significant move in improving the Texans. But I do. I feel much more positive about the future of this team.

Keep making good decisions, Cal.

I didn't care if Easterby was fired or not. He had no power in the org this yr, so him being here didn't really matter to me. He did the job he was hired to do, clean up the trash in the org and help with the hiring of Caserio, who the McNair's had wanted to hire for yrs. His job had been completed down on Kirby.

The scapegoat is gone, who will be the new scapegoat? Remember the McNair's still own the team, so if things dont go well there will always be a new scapegoat. I'm guessing Lovie.

I feel like I'm probably not in a good position to really appreciate how good this is. I punched out right before or just at the time of his arrival and started distancing myself from the Texans for my own sanity. As nothing seemed to get better for years after I can only assume I was fortunate to have missed most of his time here. I honestly still don't even know what he did exactly. I get that he was one of those people that seems to make the place dysfunctional but I also can't help but worry that the "dysfunction" was in the building a lot longer than Easterby. Probably longer than O'Brien as well.

how can you say that when he was instrumental in re-signing DW4? His expertise was "character" & dude failed miserably.
