Runner said:Oops. Thanks - I corrected it. I'll leave a little tip for you in your jar.
I ran 8 1/2 miles this morning at 5:00 and was soaked in sweat after the first couple, and that was with no sun.
Runner said:I just heard on the local TV news that Spencer and Moulds left the field due to heat exhaustion.
Remember - this is a news report so take it FWIW. No need to panic yet - I'm sure they can recover.
That's scary, especially for Spencer since he's one of the larger (maybe the largest ?) players on the roster. Remember Korey Stringer ?Runner said:I just heard on the local TV news that Spencer and Moulds left the field due to heat exhaustion.

aj. said:Moulds left really early. I saw Spencer for about half the practice but didn't notice him leave. They weren't the only players showing signs of heat "frustration."

And Spencer played ball at Pitt and is from NY state. I doubt that he's ever been exposed to this kinda heat we have here in Houston.

Maybe it was just me but it seemed hotter out there at 9:30 a.m. than it does at 7:30 p.m.

It's the angle of the sun, and remember its really 10:30 when you back outaj. said:Maybe it was just me but it seemed hotter out there at 9:30 a.m. than it does at 7:30 p.m.
jerek said:8 1/2 miles? I would die, if not from exhaustion then boredom. Car not working?
aj. said:There were a lot of helmets coming off and players running water over their heads and into their helmets. ...while Kubiak was wearing his patented long sleeve sweatshirt.
Well, it is just that it is getting hotter faster this year. Normally this heat isn't until mid Aug.jerek said:8 1/2 miles? I would die, if not from exhaustion then boredom. Car not working?
Am I the only one who thinks this summer has actually been fairly pleasant? I remember last year being a scorcher, and so far, it's just seemed cooler out to me. Don't know if I am just sort of used to it now or what.
Not sure why I typed 7:30, I meant 3:30. Dom had some practices over the past years in the mid-afternoons and that's what I was comparing it to.nunusguy said:It's the angle of the sun....

HomeBred_Texan said:What is the reasoning for practicing outside in this heat instead of practicing in that domed practice facility they have? I don't get it...
NoBullTexan said:Now he will really start to get down to the 230, or so, that Kubiak wants.

We are about to unfold another feature that ties in to the main page and will link directly to it's own forum we will host here in place of the draft forums. Players and coaches will be involved, so you guys will get a bit more interaction this season when it comes to houstontexans.com. Consider that some inside scoop...I'll let them annouce it officially on the main page.Brandon420tx said:Can we expect a voice of the fan any day now?
Runner said:It gives us an overwhelming advantage when a northern team - say Pittsburgh - comes down to play us early in the year. We can leave the roof open and dominate them through better conditioing.
Dom didn't script that a year in advance and had no place in his schedule to deviate and bring them in. They were worked in for the 2008 campain though....but alas, those plans are trashed now.Double Barrel said:I've asked this question about that game but have never seen an answer: Why don't the Texans have cooled benches like Pittsburgh brought with them?
Our dudes ended up sitting in the sun on aluminum benches!

Texans Pride said:I saw a special that showed a pill that the player swallows....That pill then sends internal body temperature alerts to the trainers. Thus allowing the trainers to monitor all of the players temps and can take care of them before a problem occurs.
