How does Bowl selection work?

How does Bowl selection work.

It looks like UT will be the #4 team in the Big 12. This means they either go to the Holiday, gator or alamo bowl(based on the assumption that Kansas will get an at large bid). The gator bowl picks the ACC #3(I believe Virginia) taking on either the #4 of the Big 12 or the number 2 of the Big East(Connecticut). How does the Gator bowl make this choice? Do they take the higher ranked team(in this case UT) or do they go on the position in conference (in this case CT)?

I guess what i am saying is, where does it look like UT plays their bowl game this year?

K. Awtysst, I've been holding my tongue for a while now, but I just have to say it. I'm PRAYING that you photo-shoped that pic of your dog, because I'd hate to think that somewhere out there a golden retriever has a Jackson Five circa 1975 afro.
Any way to the matter at hand. The people who sponsor bowl games simply invite teams whom they think will draw a huge audience to which they can advertise. It has NOTHING to do with either your ranking or you number of wins. Notre Dame can have an ABYSMAL season and still be in a bowl game because sponsors know that people will watch just because Notre Dame is in it.

yawn. there's an obvious ebb and flow with how bowls are selected. aside from Notre Dame (and other independents), there's pretty much a set way for teams to get to bowl games.

like one guy said last night, system needs fixing

when the there was an outrage because of the voting had too much power, in came the computer systems, now the computer systems have the power, (georgia ranked #4 and climbing(computerwise, I would assume being they are #4 and 1 and 2 lost) now they want the voters to decide

give me a playoff... because what the "experts" look at is publicity. and if major league baseball was played like the NCAA.we would see nothing but Yankees and mets (or braves) in the championship year after year(publicity)

Stewart vs. Mike Ford is one of the finer RB matchups you'll find this bowl season.

I agree.

I'm also looking forward to Arian Foster (Tennessee) vs. P.J. Hill (Wisconsin).

Tony Temple & Jeremy Maclin (Missouri) vs. Darren McFadden & Felix Jones (Arkansas).

Keegan Herring (Arizona State) vs. Jamaal Charles (Texas).

There is gonna be a lot of really good bowl games.
