Before I give any grade I want to give just a small bit of insight from an employer’s standpoint…because at the end of the day this is an employer seeking after an employee, regardless if it’s a game of talent, or selling a product or service.
I manage a NAPA auto parts store for an owner. I hire the employees, not the owner, because I know what works best with my skill set and the skill sets of those that I surround myself with. It is hard for an owner, who is an outsider so to speak, and who is not working in the environment that he is seeking the employeee for, to know all the subtleties of the personalities and abilities of each person, balanced with those very same traits of another, for them to operate in a smooth orderly fashion. I have to assume that this is in play when Nick and Lovie are choosing a particular individual for each spot. Each determination goes beyond mere talent, but also how each one may work cohesively and smoothly with each and every other personality that may have similar talents, and how they may interact with one another. That being said, we are the outsider, trying to determine which would be the best fit for each spot, without having all the necessary information about how each of those personalities mesh with one another.
I have to take it at face value that those who are in charge of these decisions are faced with this very same scenario and are picking people who they think will work cohesively together to achieve the ultimate goal, a championship.
My grade…an A — for the sheer excitement alone that I am experiencing for the first time in a very long time being a Texans fan. I am optimistic for the first time in quite awhile and that merits an A from me.
