If the Titans held the Colts to 22 with no-names in their secondary, I don't think we have to worry that muchFaggins is going to be torched by the Colts next week. Dunta can't cover both Wayne and Harrison.

Yeah, not much.
Just Peyton, Addai, Harrison, Clark, Wayne........am I missing anyone?
I think we'll be fine against the colts. The reason I say that is because of the way our front 7 is playing..."lights out" as they said during the game. If this continues we'll be getting plenty of attention soon...even against Indy's receivers.
I dunno, usually if you shut down the running game, like we're capable of doing, you force the team to pretty much pass all the time. Don't know if that's what we want with Peyton and co. The Colts will always be scary until Peyton retires.
True, they will pass more...but putting pressure on a quarterback like that means he may throw more interceptions and make other mistakes. But that's just me.
I hear you, but I don't want Peyton to be focused on passing against us and Peyton's notoriously hard to get to. Luckily, Boulware should be ready now so hopefully we can cover their WR's. Guess we'll see!
Faggins on Smith was my biggest fear going into this game. I'm glad the coaching staff made the change and put D-Rob on him. That long TD catch was a fluke. D-Rob pretty much shut Smith down.
I'll say it was a fluke, that was DeMeco that had him wrapped up. (almost)
Good effort by Smith.
I've thought recently that Faggins should move back to the nickel and Fletcher to the CB position.
Hello?
Faggins is what we thought he was.
He got torched twice by Lee Evans last season, so WTH did Richard Smith think was going to happen when the Texans were going to face Carolina and Steve Smith???? Did he think that Steve was going to be running to Dunta's side of the field?????
I really want an explanation of this.
Most CB can't cover Smith straight up. It is totally uncool to put Petey in that position.
IIRC, in the spirit of fairness, it was Faggins that stripped the ball in the endzone that resulted in the ST touchdown. FWIW.
Petey had a pretty good day. Sure, one TD suxxored. But the other that Petey gave up was a pretty amazing play and display of concentration by Smith. A lot of wideouts wouldn't have made that catch.
And of course the forced fumble.
That's debatable.Agreed. I think people are making too much of this. Should Faggins have been up against Smith? No. But does Faggins suck? Certainly not.
And make it obvious that we're playing man or zone?I do agree that Dunta should start covering number ones rather than just the left side.
That's debatable.

Faggins isn't a good #2 CB.
I'll eat crow if he shuts down Wayne next week.

That's why you run, run, run, and run when you play the Colts. They're going to pass whether you stop their run or not. You beat them by eating clock with your run game and keeping Manning off the field.....like they did on Christmas Eve.I dunno, usually if you shut down the running game, like we're capable of doing, you force the team to pretty much pass all the time. No he doen't. He is a sixeth round guy giving you 110% every play.
Faggins is a solid CB. There is only one Champ Bailey in the NFL. Everyone else gets beat, particularly by the great WRs. Steve Smith is the best WR in the NFL. This defense should roll it's coverage toward Faggins most of the time. They didn't do that on those Smith TDs and we paid for it. Of course we could upgrade at CB but I do believe that there aren't 60 Cbs in this league I'd prefer to Petey... By the way, he'll make quite a few plays this season... Everyone remembers Lee Evans beating him for two TDs, but they seem to forget plays he's made for this team. When he returned from his foot injury last year, the defense instantly improved. I think he had 2 turnovers in the Jacksonville game we won last year. Oh, and don't forget the Jacksonville game in 04 when he picked one off and took it to the house to make it 20-6!
It's not that he gets beat; it's how he gets beat. He gets smoked by anyone with speed. OK, fine. One would presume that he would fare better against a receiver that he can stay close with. Then, when he does manage to stay in a receiver's face, he doesn't play the ball. I've seen him get burned for plays too many times in cases where he should have turned around and looked for the ball. If he's 10 yards off the ball (a la the Lee Evans TDs last year), then turning around and playing the ball is going to do him no good. In that TD against Smith last week, all he had to do was turn his head and play the ball. I've seen him burned for pass plays and interference calls in the same kind of situation. So yeah, every CB gets burned. WRs get paid to play, and they have the advantage of knowing where they're going. I get it. Faggins loses in areas where he shouldn't.
I don't dislike Faggins, and I am not arguing against his talent or work ethic. Like many have said - he is what he is. He just needs to be relegated to nickel role. Just because someone is not talented enough to do a job is not reason enough to give them a pass. I don't know that Jamar Fletcher is any better, though, and we'll all just have to wait and see on Bennett, I suppose.
