Then why have him out there at all? What's going on now is petty. Shut him down and ask Goodell to put him on the CEL, it's a waste of everyone's time to keep pretending. If Goodell refuses to put him on the CEL for now, then excuse him from being at camp or just let him work out inside the training room only. They know he's not playing another down for this team, so why take reps away from those who are going to play? If that doesn't clue you guys in, I don't know what will.
Whose time is he wasting? He's not taking reps away from anybody. He's out there because he's under contract and on the roster. What can the Texans really do? And putting him on the CEL hurts the Texans. Then why have him out there at all? What's going on now is petty. He caused all this BS and we all agree he's in camp to avoid fines. If the Texans know he will never play another game for them and he said he doesn't want to, then shut him down until they can move him. As an organization, the Texans shouldn't feed into the fiasco. It's not just about snaps. I guarantee the players are constantly getting briefed on what not to say, the media is going to continue to press for info and the fans are going to continually wonder what's going on. He is not going to be embarrased that they have him doing trivial stuff out on the field, keep him out of the spot light and inside the building watching film or something. He don't need a practice jersey, helmet, pads nor cleats...Whose time is he wasting? He's not taking reps away from anybody. He's out there because he's under contract and on the roster. I don't know how this plays out if he still shows up Sept. 12th. I think Watson is going to get his money one way or another, by either showing up, being an inactive and still getting game checks, or going on the CEL. Either way he gets paid. I don't know how the Texans get out of that.

It's more like taking control of the situation as much as you can vs just letting it play out.So I'm confused on why you want the Texans to hide him.
Do you want to protect him from getting hurt?
Do you want to save the rest of the team from distraction?
They are executing a different control. It's more like taking control of the situation as much as you can vs just letting it play out.

Best case scenario for the team is for Watson to do anything that would fit the description of "Conduct Detrimental" at which time they can suspend him internally and potentially keep him on the final year of the rookie contract by not accruing a season .... If they can manage to suspend him twice (or Goodell steps in and suspends him).
Just have to wait for Watson to make a critical error ....

What kind of critical error would that be? They ask him to play in a PS game and he refuses? Can they do something then?
That is not what happened with Jalen Ramsey.I don’t think it’s likely, but let’s not act like he WOULDN’T play if he was asked to…if he refuses or goes out there and dogs it, not only does it kill his trade market, he doesn’t get paid either.
That is not what happened with Jalen Ramsey.
That said, I'm with you. If he's willing to suit up, suit him up.
Irrelevant. Legal issues isn’t going to make Watson a worse QB.Ramsey didn’t have the legal issues hanging over him tho.
Send him out there, Ice Cube “No Vasoline” style with all the backups. Give him a towel to wipe the blood up of the back of his legs, if he’s guilty of all he’s accused of.That is not what happened with Jalen Ramsey.

I suggested Watson be put on IR, to at least recoup the roster spot. That idea was shot down as it would put the Texans even worse spot.
Nice thought. But we don’t know what his mindset is right now. They do. & they decided to do what they are doing.DW does & it would be in his best interest to not create anymore reasons for teams to potentially sour on him.
They want to win. They know who gives the team the best chance to win.I agree, they should be putting him in there. Just because he may be out there to avoid the fines, he's still out there so put him in. I do wonder what the other guys out there feel about his status.
May be part of the plan. Get him out there with the guys. Get him to want to be with them on the field. Get him to want to play with them, to lead them. They want to win. They know who gives the team the best chance to win.

Screw him. Why would anyone want this turd? I’d rather go 0 and 16 than have this POS ever take a meaningful snap again.May be part of the plan. Get him out there with the guys. Get him to want to be with them on the field. Get him to want to play with them, to lead them.
Some things are more important than football. They want to win. They know who gives the team the best chance to win.
Why are the Texans entertaining any of it? Why not just get him off the roster or reconcile. The team isn't going to get full value with this situation. Its not going to happen. They didn't have a plan as usual. They were, like most on this board was waiting on the CEL and it hasn't happened. So the backup plan was what? Nothing. Some things are more important than football.
There's a difference between a guy who loses his temper and does something he wishes he wouldn't have done and the things this POS has been accused of by 30 some odd women.
So why not just cut him or trade him asap? If the team wants to move on, just move on.Some things are more important than football.

Right. So they should void the remainder of his contract (I don't know on what basis they can do this) & cut him.they can’t trade him with these investigations hanging over his head.

What is it hurting you that he's on the roster and in camp? The fact that the Texans appear to be doing their due diligence on this is actually a little refreshing. Watson is an asset they feel can net them other assets that can help pull them out of the abyss they're in a lot quicker. No reason to rush the dude out of here and take less than what they feel they might be able to get at some point. So why not just cut him or trade him asap? If the team wants to move on, just move on.
Due diligence is right. Exactly what it is. While we can make decisions based on what we think is true, the Texans have to work within the framework of the NFL & current CBA.The fact that the Texans appear to be doing their due diligence on this is actually a little refreshing.
The “reports” about calling DW4’s mom was before the Hopkins trade. Allegedly someone called 4’s mom saying Hopkins was a bad influence on her boy. She called Janice, Janice set the axe in motion.
Eaterby enters the picture. Creepy, Voldemort looking guy. Asking questions, trying to connect with players. Those players think he’s behind the Hopkins trade & the legend of Easterby grows.
Watt got O’Brien fired. Watson thinks he’s got it like that tells Cal he needs to fire Easterby. “Why?” Cal asks. Watson lays every dead body at Easterby’s feet, culminating in Hopkins.
Cal says, “Jack had nothing to do with that, your mom said he had to go.”
Watson wanted nothing to do with an organization that makes decisions based on mamabear not knowing when to let go.
all this is speculation. Not one thing is based on verifiable facts.
I'm just saying that if they get rid of him just to wash their hands of it, they stand no chance of getting anything close to what they hope to get. At least they appear to be rolling the dice and taking a chance that they eventually will get those offers at a later date.Due diligence is right. Exactly what it is. If they do anything, they have to back it up with fact & right now there isn't much.

I heard somewhere that fans at practice were cheering for Watson to get some reps. Team probably didn’t want the distraction around any more is my guess..Nice thought. But we don’t know what his mindset is right now. They do. & they decided to do what they are doing.
Guessing, based on what they have him doing & not doing, seems like they’re trying to force him to give them a reason.

Please don't say that...
My whole thing is typical of this team, they didn't have a plan. They were banking on the cel. Right now, regardless of which side anyone is on, its uncomfortable and not fair to the players or the new coaching staff. Anytime a player wants out, regardless, you're never going to get good value. What makes Watson situation worse is the no trade clause . No matter where we think he should go, he's not going to agree to go to a team that doesn't have a decent team, good management. Once you've been part of poor management, you're not going to return to that kind of situation. The team he gets traded to is probably going to win enough games to be a playoff contender. So that pick is going to be mid to late 1st rd. So the Texans will be just good enough with Taylor to win 5 games. The team you trade Watson to will be good enough to win 10 or 11 games. So those #1 draft picks come in around 7 ish and the other in the 20s. Its a lose lose situation. What is it hurting you that he's on the roster and in camp? Goodell did the Texans a favor by not putting him on the CEL forcing him to show up.
Backup plan ?
They can't trade him. No team is going to give you remotely close to fair value , hell you probably don't get 1/3rd value right now.
You cut him you pay him the $111m in guaranteed money in the extension .... which hits your cap .... immediately.
He won't reconcile.
What are your options ?
Hurry up and wait.
Goodell did the Texans a favor by not putting Watson on the CEL….mostly due to knowing no team would step forward to try and make a trade. Essentially, Goodell is telling the Texans, this is your mess and no one’s bailing you out of it. This makes the Texans responsible for all the money due Watson for 2021…..whether he’s on the field playing or standing on the sideline in street clothes.
The Texans cutting Watson just woudn’t be an option simply b/c of the money involved. I didn’t think there’d be any way for the McNair’s to duplicate the stupidity of the Osweiler situation but I’m just blown away that it appears they could make that situation look like chump change in this latest screwup. I believe Goodell knows the team was fully aware of the Watson situation but made no effort to clean it up before it went public.
Are the Texans in a position to move Watson to “Suspended Without Pay b/c of Conduct Detrimental To The Team” at this time? Or, does Goodell step in and put Watson on CEL to leave the Texans in a position where the Texans will continue paying Watson until this situation is finalized.
In all honesty…..the NFL should use the Osweiler, OB, and Watson fiasco’s as enough reason to force the McNair’s to sale the Texans. They’re simply far too inept to be NFL owners.
