DeMeco Ryans, MLB, Houston: Despite all the heat the Texans took -- and continue to take -- for not drafting homegrown quarterback Vince Young with the first pick in the most recent draft, they did find a future megastar in this class. They just happened to take him with their second-round pick. Ryans is slowly starting to gain some recognition, but he's still not receiving as much as he deserves. He started training camp as a weakside linebacker, moved to the middle after the Texans gave up on former starter Sam Cowart and has become the foundation of a defense that's slowly adapting to life in a 4-3 scheme after years in a 3-4. It's not enough to say Ryans ranks second in the NFL in tackles, with 135 or that he's the favorite for defensive rookie of the year. In the not too distant future, he might very well be mentioned in the same league as stud middle linebackers such as Chicago's Brian Urlacher, Baltimore's Ray Lewis and Denver's Al Wilson. The guy really is that special.
