Crowdsource project to improve the music at NRG Stadium

Texans_Chick

Utopian Dreamer
The Texans do listen to feedback. That is why there are more local franchise food options inside the stadium in recent years, for example.

Here's my project to improve the music. I want some great suggestions that meet this criteria. If there is a particular part of a song that wails, mention that.

Please add your suggestion. NOT TO THIS THREAD. But on this blog post. I am going to embed it on my blog and send it to the team. And even if they don't change things, maybe we learn some songs we didn't already know.

A Fan Created Playlist for the Houston Texans NRG Stadium

I want to go to that stadium as long as I am able. But the same section of Thunderstruck for all of eternity just seems so generic and lame. It does a disservice to AC/DC even.

Someone who's signed up or registered add Godsmack's "Whatever", just for the opening riff. Powerman 5000 "Show Me What You Got" seems like it'd go well with a football game.

i only average a couple games a year lately, so i'm a bit out of the loop, but i actually like a lot of the music. i love that we have our own song - though many hate it, and the ac/dc sections are still great to me - though many hate it. in madden 25 there are moments where thunderstruck is heard at the end of texans' games and i'm immediately transported to my real seat. i liked 'weatherman' especially with owen daniels on the squad. since asked however, i'd strongly endorse chevelle for the texans.

hats off to the bull (i think is already part of the rotation)

take out the gunman ('gun' possibly being an unusable word, but otherwise works)

probably a few edits to come with more.

lil jon's 'turn down for what' may be a bit obvious, but some creative editing for our 100 million dollar man would be great. turn down for ... "WAAAATTT?!?!?"

if we're to replace our oldies, my vote goes to ZZ Top and Ted Nugent.

Where's Axman? If anyone could come up with a playlist, he could.

As for me, I hardly notice what music is playing when I go to the game.
sorry...

I passed along eriadoc and scooter's suggestions and added a few.

I personally like Thunderstruck in the mix. Like scooter said, when I hear that song I'm instantly sitting front row at the stadium.

Kid Rock's I am the Bullgod seems like a no brainer.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I am publishing this in the Chronicle. If you want this a priority, please continue to add cool stuff. I like a lot of hip hop, particularly some old stuff, but I'd be the worst person to make quality suggestions.

Quite a bit of the stuff I suggested they'd need to find Walmart versions for, but the mood is right IMO.

So folks know what got suggested:

Godsmack - Whatever
Powerman 5000 - Show Me What You Got
Chevelle - Take out the Gunman
Chevelle - Hats Off to the Bull
Adelitas Way - Criticize
Monster Magnet - Powertrip
Avenged Sevenfold - Shepherd of Fire
Avenged Sevenfold - Hail to the King
Avenged Sevenfold - Doing Time
Black Stone Cherry - Violator Girl
Buckcherry - Porno Star (clearly without lyrics)
Shinedown - Enemies
Rage Against the Machine - Sleep Now in the Fire
Nickelback - Burn It To The Ground
Hinder - Use Me
Hinder - All American Nightmare
Kid Rock - I Am the Bullgod

Steph, how willing are the Texans to consider very situation specific music? - eg. mocking songs for when the opposing team takes a timeout or makes a challenge.

Maybe I'm nuts but I think Everlast - Folsom Prison Blues would be good. Thoughts?

Getting away from rock:

Everlast - Stone in My Hand
Everlast - Die in Yer Arms
Everlast - Hot to Death
House of Pain - Top of the Mornin' to Ya
Kid Rock - I Got One For Ya
Kid Rock - American Bad A**
Kid Rock - So Hott

Volbeat's 'a warriors call' has some great stadium moments in this...

I've always thought some dramatic classical would be nice entering the stadium....I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one.
Actually, I'm kinda partial to Ride of the Valkyries or the 1812 Overture myself. Or maybe some of that stuff Sabol & Son used as background for those NFL films...
yes, seriously.

Ring of Fire - Social Distortion

Best cover of Johnny Cash's song I've heard! And if the defense is as good as we think it may be this year, that would be a good song for the D when coming onto the field.

I like the ride of the valkyries. I also like Strauss. I can see them running out to this Carl Orff masterpiece, or certain segments of Nessun Dorma or even sampling parts of the brooding and dark "Toccata and Fugue".

I think I'm having a Dr Niles Crane (Frasier's brother) moment posting classical suggestions on a football mb.

It would really be cool if they could showcase some of the Houston area bands. There's some great rock/metal around here.
Queensryche may have never made it had they not been played in Seattle's stadium.
Also like the classical idea. That would be awesome.
