You either like him or you don't, but . . .
1) He has the 72 hours of "seller's remorse" because he doesn't have an agent. I suspect what's holding him up is that someone (June Jones?) is trying to find out if a team will definitely take him in the first round.
2) The NFL underclassmen evaluation projected him to go in the 2nd round. Jones was quoted as saying that the evaluations skew on the conservative side. Jones has told juniors in his program looking to leave early that they shouldn't. Except this time.
3) His "gaudy" statistics shouldn't blind one from the fact that they mean something about his abilities. He can play in a pro set, he did that at Saddleback CC before coming to Hawaii, unlike Timmy Chang who spend high school and college in the run and shoot and had to learn to go under center in NFL training camps! Colt would have flourished in most college programs. No, he wouldn't have passed for 5500+ yards but he still would have been the most accurate passer in college football.
4) Yes, he needs 20 more lbs of meat on him; he acknowledges this. The question is whether he will gain it playing his senior season or doing it with a clipboard on an NFL sideline. The Joe Montana comparison is actually pretty apt. Kinda wiry, but runs well (Brennan is a very good runner, very good escapability, can get the first down); not the strongest arm but accurate; and is a gamer. And remember where Montana was drafted? So us Colt fans are worried about where he's drafted for his sake ($$); hey, if he's still around in the 3rd round, he would be a steal.
