True, all Stroud need to win a championship is the Bears 85 or the Ravens defense. Easy PeasyFair, I won't argue that one. I wasn't old enough to really watch them, so I repeated what I grew up hearing my Dad and Grandpa said.
I'm not comparing Stroud to those guys. I'm just stating that a great QB can't win without a good enough team with him, while a worse QB can win with a good enough team.
He probably did, at least on the offensive side of the ball. I don't think that means he lost it for his team, though; I think he played well enough to win that game against Georgia.
And I think that's a problem. We've talked about this- while I do think the Texans made the right pick with Stroud, I don't think they've given him enough weapons. I'm not sure that Scruggs is an upgrade this season, and I'm not confident that Dell is going to have anywhere near the success in getting open that he had in college. Hutchinson is a JAG, IMO, I'm actually more intrigued by the UDFA they signed out of Pitt.
We'll see, though; I hope I am wrong, but if not, I hope the Texans are looking at WR and TE in free agency, on the trade block, and in the 2024 draft.
As an OSU fan, you've got to admit he was avg at best in the 4th qtr.
It's doubtful in the nest 3 yrs Stroud will have WR's as good as OSU has had over the next 3 seasons. I guess they could suck and get Harrison then trade up for the other E- Dude WR. Then draft Stover in the 3rd rd. In fact this looks like a pretty good idea.
No excuses this yr though if he's better than Mills because Mills sucks according to many around these parts. I'm not a Mills fanboy either, I think Mills is a 20-25 type starter with better talent around him.
