2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
For those who think I couldn’t execute a Mock without Hendon Hooker…..I give you this Mock:
1-002: QB- CJ Stroud (Ohio State)
1-012: RB- Bijan Robinson (Texas)
2-033: WR- Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee)
3-065: OC- Luke Wypler (Ohio State)
3-073: TE- Tucker Kraft (South Dakota State)
4-104: DE- Andre Carter II (Army)
5-148: OL- Ricky Stromberg (Arkansas)
6-188: DE- Mike Morris (Michigan)
6-201: FB- Hunter Luepke (North Dakota State)
6-218: LB- Yasir Abdullah (Louisville)
7-230: WR- Andrei Iosivas (Princeton)
7-259: SS- Gerverrius Owens (Houston)
If the Texans are investing a RD1-002 pick on QB, CJ Stroud…..this draft is going to be focused on giving him the best tools available.
Bijan Robinson along with Pierce and Singletary would absolutely give Ryans and Slowick the running game they desire. Probably the best backfield in the NFL. To add a bit more flexibility to the RB room, I also selected FB/TE/H-Back- Hunter Luepke who I think could be an extremely exciting weapon in this offense.
Stroud will need receivers, unfortunately his Ohio State target was selected just in front of Bijan….so I took Robinson, then selected Jalin Hyatt with the 33rd pick. I also added WR, Andrei Iosivas in RD7 to add the much needed speed to the receiving group. Hyatt, Collins, Metchie, and Iosivas should be a strong group. I also added TE, Tucker Kraft who should be a strong addition to the TE group.
I selected Luke Wypler and Ricky Stromberg to help fortify the OL. Both are primarily Centers but could slide out and be exceptional OG’s. I‘d like to see an all out competition for the starting center position this season. The winner starts and the other is depth this season at Center and would be able to compete for a starting roll at OG in 2024.
I did give Ryans some morsels for his defense in Andre Carter II and Mike Morris as DE’s, Yasir Abdullah as a MLB, and Gerverrious Owens as a thumping SS. The defense will be better b/c of Ryans and his scheme, but this influx of talent should be good enough to get on the field in 2023 as starters or solid backups.
Again, this Mock focused on giving Stroud the offensive tools to make a difference.
